"All sports except football".

LOL

Think we all knew that wasnt true from minute one. And apparently it aint.

The next big things in strength and conditioning are coming out of Nebraska.

Again.

Boyd Epley is back!!!

Just the pure fact that he was involved with this testing has to make all Husker fans smile. I guarantee you that the players will be in much better "football shape" come this Spring than they have been for quite some time.

The staff focusing on the important tests (pro agility, vertical & 10yrd dash) & NOT the overrated 40yrd dash #GBR

I'll never forget attending Boyd Eppley's speed camp in the summer of '01 after the football camp. Grouped together, Boyd asks all the guys "what kind of conditioning do you guys do?". And he got the answers he expected. 44's. 350's 300 yard shuttles. gassers. Etc ETc ETC. And he says "youre coaches are dumb. There's no reason for long distance running. how many times in a football game are you going to run 300 yards?"

So i goes back home to conditioning at school a couple days later and tell our strength coach/DC (and he played college ball at kansas St mind you) Boyd Epley says we dont need to do any distance running. All agility and short burst takeoff stuff. he says "i dont give a f#*k what Boyd Epley says". My response was "I bet your buddy Snyder would beg to differ". Well, that got me an extra shuttle that night. LOL. Just a little story I wanted to share.

So awesome. Thanks for sharing that Mav. Wicked look inside what these guys mindset is.

I couldn't agree more with what Rose Sr. said. Focus on the short burst speed and power testing. That's the game of football. This isn't track.

Boyd Epley is a legend. That new S & C coach looks like a big son of a gun. I hope he works these kids hard, but not just hard work, smart work too. It looks like an all around good situation.

I get the feeling that Phillipp walked into the complex and went from six to midnight. It would be like going from driving a Camero to driving a Ferrari.

Per Urban. I ask my guys to give 4-6 seconds of relentless effort. Regroup and repeat. Seems like OSU is modeled after the NU of old. Great to have Boyd back. But, but, but, it's all sports but football. Haha

You have to think we were planning on a HC change since last year. Odd how everything happened

"How they can bend and can't bend". Glad to here the concept of being flexible and functionally fit is known to the new staff! You win in the trenches and the winning starts now.

You may recall the NAPL being a big part of the East Stadium expansion project that opened in 2013. In year one, if Husker football used it much if at all the school didn't promote the usage, and as I talked to a handful of players during the season about the NAPL, they had all seen the lab on tours but hadn't known how it was being used.
