Combine Numbers

All the runningbacks are running slow.

Nothing under a 4.54 yet.
Slow?
5 out of 26 guys to run so far are sub 4.6

That's a pretty slow RB group overall. Not a lot of speedy prospects - lots of big bodied guys this year.

Edit: Langford just ran a 4.43
I don't think you understand the definition of slow.Slow = Me and you. Matter of fact, I'd bet you are slower than me, and I'm not the one calling any of these guys slow......you are.
I don't think you understand that he's comparing them to other people who've done the combine, and who the hell cares how fast or slow we are? That has nothing to do with this topic.
I didn't say it did genius. I said calling people slow because they run the forty yard dash in 4.6 seconds is probably a misuse of the word SLOW. Me calling him and I slow is just an accurate use of the term and the best way I could illustrate the proper use of the word SLOW.Those guys who ran today are FAST. Anyone in the past who ran it in a lesser time were FASTER.
If Michael Johnson and Hussein Bolt race is the loser slower than the winner?
Is either of them slow?

(also, it's Usain, not Hussein.)

The point of the 40 yard dash at the combine is to see how fast the players are. Some of the players are slow in comparison to other players, and the group (if what I'm reading in this thread is correct) is slow in comparison to past years. But let's be nice to the players so we don't hurt their feelers.

Those verts are ridonculous. I may be wrong, but it usually seems like 0-2 guys break that 40" mark each year. That UGA wideout also did 45".

Kenny's combine numbers so far have been impressive. I'll be shocked if he doesn't make a roster and I never say that about NU WR's

Ameer, I'm looking forward to see how he does on the change of direction drills. He should do well.

agree, all the times are very average.......ho hmmm

Wow Ameer tore it up.

RB/overall rank:

1/1 20 yd shuttle

1/3 3-cone

1/2 verticle

1/4 broad jump

3/4 60 yd shuttle

True, what the hell?

Fast and slow are relative terms. It's pretty obvious to I think everyone except you that me saying they are running it slow is clearly relative to past runningback groups at the combine. I don't need to say slower, slow works exactly the same way.

Are you really not getting this or are you just picking some really weird thing to argue with me about?

Yes, I am slow. Yes, I am slower than the runningbacks in the combine. Yes, in this context, those two statements mean the exact same thing. I'm also faster than a turtle, or in other words, compared to a turtle, I am fast.

Ya, an electronic 4.40 at 200 lbs is no ugh. He does look bulked up in the picture. Boyd Eppley must have gotten ahold of him proving you can be strong and fast.
He didnt do great on the Bench, so not that bulked up.
I think he did like 7 reps compared to Ameer doing like 23.

Obviously that isnt that huge of a deal.. Kenny has been a great blocking WR even without the huge body.
Oh ya, i forgot, b/c bulking up some should directly correlate to how many times he should be able to rep 225.
It absolutely should correlate to that.
To me he looked more bulked up in shoulders and bicep/triceps. You can get stronger and bigger without doing bench. Lots of trainers i know dont include bench in their programs anymore as they feel there ard other ways to strengthen pectoral muscles that are much more efficient and less stressful on the joints. Kenny also has pretty long arms for his size/height. I havent seen many guys with long arms that are good at bench.
