Langsdorf Using Helmet Radios Communication to Call Plays in Practice

Microphones or speakers? I could see the coaches talking to the QBs but I'm not sure what microphones would do.

Same set up the NFL uses. Every so often some college coaches push for it, but the munchkin leagues reject it.

Apparently they are microphones that they are talking to Langsdorf with.

Interesting.

I think the terminology is sloppy here. Listening to Riley's presser, he called them microphones but explained that it's a way for Langsdorf to call the plays without having to be right next to the QBs. So it's the same system the NFL uses - speakers, not microphones in the helmets.

Riley said he's never used it before. I would guess Langsdorf brought the idea from the NFL.

Supposedly the NCAA is letting schools use it this spring as a trial run. I would guess it's pretty likely it will be implemented for games in the not-too-distant future.

Thanks that makes more sense. Seems like a good idea too. Kudos to Langsdorf
