Agree. Many conflate a physiological definition with a psychological definition of addiction. My guess is that RG may be psychologically addicted to mj.
An excerpt from the conclusion section of a Psychology Today article (sourced below):
".....there is clearly developing proof that marijuana is addicting, and clinically there are numerous reports....."
The article goes on to state that ppl can use marijuana without showing addictive behavior, so it tries to strike a balance in its conclusions. Without going into details I have investigated many ppl over the last 30 years for various bad conduct, and many engaged in addictive behavior. A few things are clear to me.....that addictive behavior (pick your addiction: drugs, alcohol, gambling, porn) manifests in stages. One of the terminal (altho not the last) is admitting the problem, but still unwilling to change it even in the face of clear detrimental results. One could argue that RG is in one of those stages. And as you read his comments, keep in mind that virtually all addicts lie.

How ironic, most hypocritical thing. And yet beers down our throats during every TV commercial break. Beer is more dangerous than pot. Take my word for it ..... both addicted in my younger years. "Pull up a stool, pour a cold one" in official BS forum. I hope soda pop instead of evil beer.

Randy is saying he was smoking pretty heavily at Nebraska, latest joint in December, and that's why he tested positive, but he is changed now.
Husker no ka oi is saying he doesn't find that credible, and suggests Randy probably smoked much more recently than that and hoped it would be gone from his system by the time the Combine came around, but it didn't.

The only way he's failing a test at the combine from smoking in Dec, is if they did a follicle test and not a urine test. I used to date someone who administered drug screenings, I don't buy RG's timeline. I also could not give a rip about weed. There was even discussion that pro sports were going to stop testing for it as there has been some early findings that it has beneficial qualities for various recovery needs.
"I don't wake up every day saying, I'd really love to go smoke," he said. "It's not a struggle for me every day (now), it really isn't. In the past, hell yeah, it's been a struggle. It really has been."
that doesn't sound like denial...he's not addicted, he can quit any time. he doesnt have a problem. in total control.
I know i'm massiviely in the minroty ere, but as i have said before, i am not a Gregory fan. i cant remember a player with more hype after a more empty career..its not like he put up Grant Wistrom numbers or anything within the same freakin universe.....i mean i know he was hurt and all, but i remember exactly nothing he did at Nebraska... he looked good coming off the bus, then was out in the 2nd series...if he played at all.
just dont get why he's going to be so competitive in the NFL when he was a non existant in college. if he was hurt in college, what the hell is he going to be in the nfl? durable? whatever....

Doesn't surprise me about the pot smoking at Nebraska. But c'mon guys, how many times have we heard of current or ex Huskers getting in trouble for smoking pot or getting caught with a pipe/bong, or having some on their person/car? Pot smoking is a huge and common problem in College Athletics and probably in High School Athletics as well. Neither of which gets full coverage, unless its a REALLY big name player, like Randy Gregory. I do believe he popped positive for it, a little bit after he got to Nebraska, and it was known that he had problems with smoking pot at his JUCO school. The 2nd time he popped was early last year before spring ball.
In that regard, I frown at Randy Gregory and have a good amount of respect for him. I still wish him the best and hope he drops that bad habit when and IF he ends up in the NFL.
