What does he expect.. us to not get better? There seems to be quite a bit of speculation that he and/or his family is upset about Watson coming in next year.
OWH“Tarin and I had talked over the last month about his future and where he fit in,” Miles said. “I believe strongly in Tarin and wanted him to stay, but I put out the most likely scenario for him and told him he had to feel good about it.”
Smith would have been in competition for playing time next season with senior-to-be Benny Parker and incoming freshman Glynn Watson from Chicago, a national Top 60 recruit.
Smith, after starting three times late in the season, had expressed disappointment in coming off the bench again in the final two games.

“I have given him a blanket release. He can go anywhere, and we’ll make calls and send video to anybody to help him out.”
Miles said the departure of Smith now and Hawkins after last season hasn’t been easy to take.
“We’ve lost some freshman guards that I thought had potential and talent,” the coach said. “Usually, we lost them out of area and they go back closer to home. I don’t know what will happen with Tarin.
“I think that’s one of the risks we run sometimes when we recruit nationwide.”
Was Smith homesick?
“He never mentioned that,” Miles said. “I don’t see that as an issue.”
