OWH McKweon: Post spring depth chart - LB's

Looks like they want a big LB at the Mike spot. the new JUCO LB commit could help with that next year (a real runner-hitter, like Banker likes at that spot).

As big as Banderas is, he's also one of the faster linebackers on the squad if not the fastest. He sure looked it in the spring anyway.

Yep. Banker likes a runner-hitter at the Mike, but it looks like size helps.

I haven't been to impressed with Banderas but that was probably because of Bo's scheme. If Banker wants his guys to play loose and fast, that could really help Banderas and he might change my mind on him.

Man...just looking at how thin this position is.
We lose anybody and we could be in Big Trouble.
You know what Ol' Jack Burton says at a time like this...

Agree. Real thin. Considering the depth at safety and cb, I was wondering if they could move one of those players to lb; otherwise it looks like we will play a lot of 2 lb sets.
You can't just play 2 LB sets vs teams like Wisky, Minny, Iowa and MichSt. That's how you get ran over. We are going to have to have Freshman/walkons step up and hope for no injuries. It bewilders me what the last coaching staff was thinking recruiting this position lately.

Look at the rushing numbers allowed by Pelini's scheme even when he had veteran experienced LB'ers on the field. It would have been even worse the next few years as we watched them try to plug in pieces, move guys around, or whatever the hell their plan was. It appears there wasn't a plan at one of the most important positions against the run. I don't think I could've handled any more excuses about how they're "swimming in it", "players aren't executing"...blah blah.....

From what I've heard, there were a few linebackers that wouldn't have stayed to play for the previous staff. Not sure if it's true or not but two names were thrown around on the radio show I listen to occasionally. So it's even scarier when you subtract those two names from the list.

Agreed, total woof by the last staff. Bando said in an interview he was thinking about leaving till the new staff was hired. Who was the other name you heard? Between mismanagement recruiting wise and a below average position coach we were hurting.

Without hearing the radio segment, my guess is Marcus Newby. He was woefully underused.
