The Nebraska football team on Wednesday was recognized for its high achievement in Academic Progress Rate, meaning the program was in the top 10 percent among football programs nationally in academic success.
There were 14 FBS teams recognized, with five of those coming from the Big Ten: Nebraska, Michigan, Northwestern, Rutgers and Wisconsin.
The APR is part of the NCAA's academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes. The APR looks at a team's academic success each semester and accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation.
