I don't get how you don't get that. It seems very simple to me, and I talked about it earlier but you didn't have any comment towards it. Boils down to two things - the first is that there are tons of variables that go into a football season, many of which are completely out of our/the coaching staff's control, and the second is that even if it is all improvement across the board, that doesn't always equate to improvement in results, because these coaches aren't improving upon the same things that already exist. They are actually breaking them down, changing them, and building them back up as something different.

Like. If we ran Georgia Tech's triple wing option offense and won 9 games, and then Chip Kelly became our head coach, a huge and obvious improvement, would you guarantee that we'd win more in year 1? Or if we had an air raid passing attack, and then in his prime Tom Osborne became our head coach? I wouldn't. Because they would get rid of the things we did and do their own things, which might take more time.

If we still had the previous staff, I can see the argument that "we've been about as lucky as possible to keep winning nine, it's bound to catch up to us" - though that definitely doesn't apply to the 2014 season. If the previous staff could actually IMPROVE by several wins (over a much worse previous season) and get to the nine win mark against a noticeably tougher schedule than we have this year - I don't see why some sort of adjustment year is a concern at all.

We really need the season to start. People are arguing just for the sake of arguing.....well, I guess that happens all the time anyway.

It is not contradictory for someone to make these 3 claims 1) Riley and this staff is a big upgrade over what we had with Bo and co. 2) Most any coach worth at least a bag of poop could have coached the Huskers to 9 wins just like Bo did. 3) Riley may not get to 9 wins this season.

The short bus explanation is that there are many factors involved in the W-L record that are not entirely dependent on the HC or the coaching staff in general. Our schedule and a pretty much entirely new system come to mind as 2 big factors that have nothing to do with Bo or MR. Hopefully those of you who are claiming this can see that there is more to consider when it comes to the win loss record.

BTW, I expect 10 wins and also think it is possible. *gasp*

True- Part of the problem is that there are many fans who don't differentiate how we play from our record. Some think our record is the entire indication of how well we played and how good we are. For many, 9 wins is the same as how good we played. And if that happens we will have the big purge of 2015 because I'm not gonna listen to that sh#t any more. TheSker has been bad enough...... seeing supposed fans delight in Riley falling short of 9 wins WILL be my final undoing on HB. I don't think it will happen but if it does it will get ugly around here I predict.
