Hello Husker Nation!

I am a recently converted Hawaii fan living in Iowa and have been excited about the signing of Leon Jackson. I do not know all that much about him except that he was highly touted as a prepster coming out of WA (followed him once he signed with UNL since I am originally from WA). A lot of UH fans are excited to see what he can do and are already proclaiming that he will be great and will tear it up (kinda premature in my opinion). I was wondering what you all could tell me about him being that most of you have already seen this kid in action. A lot of fellow WAC opponents are claiming he will be a bust due to the fact that he couldnt even crack the 4 deep RB position at UNL which is why he was moved to safety. In my humble opinion, I believe he will excel in the Hawaii program due to their wide open offense. Yes, he may only run the ball 10 or so times a game but he could also add another 8 or so catches/game. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Personally, I think the coaching staff dropped the balll with Leon....... Before some of you guys crucify me for questioining the "staff", please don't.... I am not saying they were wrong, just the fact that I think Leon never really got to settle in anywhere...

I think this guy has a ton of tools and talent....He signed as an athlete, tried RB, moved to DB, played special teams, then during bowl practice, played WR for 3-4 weeks....Remember, this was all during his "true freshman" year, trying to adjust to college and college fb....

Then in the Spring, they moved him back to RB.... It is not a secret that BC's playbook is unreal...Here is a kid with all of this great abiltiy, but fell behind at every possible position, because of all of the "trial and error".... he became frustrated and moved on .....

IMO, I believe he will be an All-WAC player before he is done... I think he will return kicks, and be the type of player you suggested....18-20 touches a game, either running or catching.....

Hawaii got a good one....especially in that system.

he has potential. unfortunately for leon, there were four other backs who also had potential. i think they may have tried him at safety but in his heart he wanted to be a running back.

if he's gone to hawaii, good for him. it's a decent program with some great leadership. there's quite a staff there with june jones and jerry glanville. and he's got to put up with hawaii weather... man, *that's* gotta suck.

I agree, Leon is a great athlete. I look for June Jones (isn't he the OC) to have fun trying to find ways to get him the ball. He was moved all over the place while at Nebraska and never really had a chance to show what he was capable of at one position. However, he did play rather well on special teams and has a feel for the game.

Nah......got converted by watching their games on gameplan and it also doesnt hurt that my brother loves them also. Hes the one who got me watching them. I just love watching their offense and those players they have play HARD. The unveiling of Brennan also helped :)

jones is the head coach. glanville is the defensive coordinator. now there's a program with some experience.

and no, that's not an invitation for you billy haters to start posting.

Welcome to the board!

Leon has the speed and the potential to do well there. I hope he does well. You have a good back!

In honesty I always felt he had the most potential. Very quick and smooth, gliding moves in high school. Just too many problems going on for him. He had some other problems and and home situation that he was concerned about I think.

I think you got a great player, and many a Nebraska fan will be wishing he was here before it is all over with.

Welcome to the board!!

I think he will probably thrive in that offense. He just wasn't patient here and there was a deep pool of talent at the position he wanted to play. He was jumbled around a bunch, but I think the coaches were trying to find a spot where he could see the field.

Have to agree with Gamecocks' opinion and reasoning on this one. I think the kid has a world of potential, and given an opportunity to settle into a single position will bring it out. That's not to say that he was treated unfairly at NU - just that circumstances worked against him. I think UH will be very happy with him.

So pretty much his heart lies at RB? I believe I saw that Leming had him rated as the #2 safety in the country coming out of HS.
