On the radio yesterday 1620 the Zone had a poll. They asked their listeners if they would choose 20k straight (after taxes, flat cash, etc) in your pocket or the Husker football team winning a National Championship.

I have to go with 20k. I have a family and could put that into savings until we see another NC. Sorry guys have to choose smart over something I would love to happen.

 
So, a one time put-it-in-my-pocket payment, or 20k every day the rest of my life?

As much as I'd love to see DONU win another national championship (and sooner rather than later), cash is king.

 
So in essence it's a poll to show who would sell their team out if given the chance. 100% of HB will lose that money when they die. Championships are legacy.

There's a whole area of psychology dedicated to this. It's called delayed discounting. The prototypical example is would you rather have 10 dollars now or 100 dollars a year from now. You can adjust both the time and the amount of money at both points. Gives you some pretty interesting results.

 
I love the huskers, and the idea of winning a championship is awesome...

But 20K is a lot of money for me right now, and i would take that every day of the week.

At the end of the day, Huskers are just a sports team... Them winning a championship doesnt do much for me outside of pride.
