2015 Game 3 “Expert” Picks: Nebraska @ Miami

To me last years defense doesn't influence my opinion on this game much. Two entirely different philosophies. As much as some think Kaaya could light this defense up much more than last years, I see it as possibly going the other way. This is still a young guy. If we can force Kaaya into some quick decisions, he could make some mistakes.

With the prior regime, I'd be thinking a loss (and probably in a bad way). But with the new guys...

Miami will be hostile, but they never fill their stadium to capacity. Probably lucky to have 30,000 plus. Hopefully we have a big Husker turnout there and neutralize some of the home field advantage. Secondary will need to step up as well as better pass rush up front. NU 38 Miami 31.

Kaaya is a really good quarterback. Not a Christian Hackenburg "oh he's got potential that hasn't been realized" kind of good, but already a total baller. He threw the ball extremely well on us last year in the most hostile Memorial Stadium environment in years and our nation-leading pass efficiency defense. At home against a more poorly performing secondary, he could have a field day.

If our defense doesn't get good pressure on Kaaya all night, and a few turnovers, I see us in a dogfight that can go either way.

I would not be surprised if they won either, and I haven't convinced myself that we will win or we are completely superior. I think we can win for 2 reason's. I think we are better on both sides of the ball at the LOS and I think TA is going to continue to play well. I see him having a day throwing similar to the first 2 games. From a pure athlete skill player side they are probably better, but the game is won in the trenches.

If you would've told me we had a 40% chance to beat Illinois i would have called you crazy. Not sure what the FPI takes into account but something can't be right if they actually think Illinois has a 60% chance to beat us. Even if it is in Champaign

Completely agree. Kaaya will get his yards, but we need to limit the amount of big plays. I think it comes down to how much pressure we can get on him. Make him feel uncomfortable, rushed, and there will be mistakes made that give our D opportunities to take advantage.

On offense, I'd love to see our running game continue to do well. Put together some nice long drives (with some big plays from Tommy in the passing game) and I like our chances. Interesting how close the scores are in the picks above; I think it's going to be a close, exciting game, with us pulling ahead late to win 31-27. GBR!

 
Is this supposed to be a sellout down there? I know a ton of Husker fans are planning to go but even with the rivalry ties Miami hasn't had great attendance recently.

I really, really doubt it. Lots of cheap tickets on stubhub as of the last 24 hours.
