Completely disagree with needing to bring back an ex player for a coach. We didnt need another training wheels coach. There is zero guarantee that would suceed.

And what kind of hire would have a greater than zero guarantee of success?

I don't believe that ANY warranty that coms with ANY coach, but I do agree that being a great player doesn't equate with being a great coach. So there is something to be said for going with continuity and tradition, because there are no givens in the Win / Loss column.

Colorado tried that... bringing in the ex player coach to bring back their glory.... kind of notion. and the result was an EPIC meltdown that the program may NEVER recover from...

As for the suppot the program all the time no matter what.... Is he being serious? Yes, you're right Mr. Booker, the stadium has been full every game for over 40 years because we want to see the guys give their all..... no matter what.... and that would we be happy with that and not care if the team won. Fans that care whether the team wins or not are shallow and should be ashamed of themselves. Right? I guess that means the Nebraskans of the 1950s were complete jerks. Glad all those people died off and were replaced by the "Sell Out Streak Generations."

What I got out of it is that he jokes about slighted by Riley, but supports him; thinks we should focus on building a strong ground game, and bring back the Blackshirt tradition of tough, hard-hitting defense. I kind of like the idea of blackshirts being handed out by former legends like him, wistrom, glover, suh, miles, peter, murtaugh, brown, etc.

There's never any guarantee, but Id rather have a guy with experience than a person who comes in with zero head coaching experience.

But what if that head coaching experience is 20 years of being average?
Wouldn't it be worth rolling the dice with the promising young coach?

Not sure how to take this...I like his comments about Blackshirts.

However, sometimes these guys just don't themselves any favors with their comments (ie bringing back an unproven coach). Now, if they bring in a position type guy with some experience that would be pretty cool.

Always good to hear from these guys though...I hope they continue to come back...wish I could be there for the 95 team!
