The rule is stupid so I don't care. There is no reason it should be against the rules to review the game (or half) ending stoppage time. I'm glad it was called the way it was. When the word for word rules are so obviously stupid, logic should win.

Here is the problem...you (no one) sees it hit the ground...it is blocked by a few people...we only see it bounce back up...

True, but the bigger issue here is that the refs signaled the play dead AFTER the clock ticked to 00:00 so...game over. That is unless you have people from UT running your conference.

The head ref was/is from here in Omaha...I know him personally.

Well, he was influenced by people in the booth who told him to put time on the clock and allow TexASS to kick a field goal. When the clock ticked to 00:00 with no "egregious" clock mismanagement by the officiating or clock operators, then the game was over. That's the way the rule reads and that's the way it is done hundreds of times a year. The clock stops when the ref puts his arms up and gives the signal to stop it...sometimes a second clicks off between when he sees what he thinks should stop play and the clock actually stopping, but the clock is not changed. BUT...when it gives TexASS another shot to win the BigXII...then it's treated entirely differently.
So next time you talk to your buddy from Omaha tell him he was wrong and if he tries to give some weak-a$$ explanation for why he did what he did, then ask him why they don't review the clock and put time back every time a second runs after the ref gives the signal to stop the clock.

They reviewed it for this year's Nebraska vs. MSU game. I'm pretty sure it's officially allowed now. Which is good.

Selectively doing something makes it an exception, not the rule (by definition)...which is not good since it is then left up to whomever decides when it is a "good" time to be selective. Like, ohhhhh...I don't knowwwww....maybe when TexASS runs the conference and THEY think it is a good time. Since they don't review the clock EVERY time the ref stops the clock, then they shouldn't ever review the refs stoppage of the clock unless, as the rule states, there is some "egregious" malfunction or time discrepancy. In that case there was no such thing and as such, the lap dogs......errrr.....refs....were just doing what TexASS wanted them to do. There shouldn't have been a review...period.

I know Bo is gone and I don't make it a habit of bashing him, the past is past. However, one of my biggest criticisms of him was that at the time the clock ticked to 00:00 he should have walked to mid-field, shook Mac Brown's hand and took the team to the locker room and not returned. If they were going to F**k Nebraska out of that Big XII championship game anyway, he should have seen if they would have had the balls to do it on a technicality and take the game away from Nebraska while they were loading on the team bus.

Nope...the time ran off the clock. Refs are not supposed to change the clock and do not review the clock in situations like that unless (as the rules state) there has been an "egregious error" with the clock operation. The clock stops when the ref signals for the clock to stop, not when the Big XII officials tell them the clock should have stopped. Watch football games and the clock ticks after the ball hits the ground on incomplete passes or goes out of bounds all the time...even at the end of games. That game was over and no time should have been put back on the clock. Sorry, but you two are simply wrong. That was some Big XII, Texas officiating.

And the scoreboard is not the official clock. IMO, the game was over.

It was a common problem for Bo's teams and is apparent already on Riley's teams. They don't know how to close out games.

Adi Kunalic had been great at kickoffs all year, but he muffed this one. And somehow, on a kick out of bounds, we also got a unsportsmanlike penalty for a 15 yard bonus.

You are simply wrong about this. There have been similar cases before and since. One team is happy about it. One team is not. But the review is legal and the results are accurate. With the game on the line I wouldn't want it any different.

Completely disagree. It may have changed the 2011 and 2012 season, but his last two seasons were just lazy efforts due to lazy recruiting and unwillingness to adjust a bad staff.
