So over the course of the last couple years I have been compiling stats in a google spreadsheet that lists all 65 power 5 conference programs by.....

Wins

Conference Championships (Includes Co-Champs)

BCS/NewYears 6 Bowl appearances (non playoff or BCS championships) (2015 placements included)

Playoff Appearances (2015 placements included)

National Championship Appearances

National Championships

I decided to give each category a point value.

Wins (1 pt each)

Conf Titles (10 points)

BCS/NY6 Bowls (7 points)

Playoff App (10 points)

National Championship App (15 points)

National Titles (25 points)

I guess Virginia tech, but they won alot of ACC title.
 
Well K-State and Iowa a bit higher than us is a bit of a surprise. Surprised UCLA is so far down. Texas A&M is down further than I'd expect. VA Tech is higher than I'd think. Actually looks not too far off when I thought about it (although harder to remember the further the years back). Nice work.

 
Great job, Coach! +1. I'm a little surprised to see tOSU ahead of Bama. I'm not surprised to see NU down at #24. The 15 years since 2000 have been our worst 15 years since Bob Devaney took over in the early 60s.

 
TCU needs a * or to be removed as they have not been a power 5 program that entire time. Not really the same when you were playing in the WAC, C-USA & Mountain West conferences for the majority of the data source. Same goes for Utah.

 
I would also question the point values, as this data can be manipulated to show a different outcome with the addition or subtraction of point values. A team could go 11-1 with a CCG loss and end up with less points then a 7-6 team that won a conference title & got a auto BCS bowl bid.

True, but you could say that for a lot of teams that *didn't* make a conference change. Like Miami, for example. Just compare Miami's schedule with, say, the schedule that Georgia played. Even though both were in Power 5 conferences the whole time, the schedule Georgia played was a LOT tougher than the teams Miami faced.

So people can basically look at the list and realize that some spots (TCU, Miami, etc.) are inflated while others might be discounted due to SOS.

Wisconsin 2012 7-5. Beat NU in CCG & went to the Rose Bowl. So yes it does happen.

 
You said 7-6.

Meaning a 6-6 team would have to get in. Also. It would never happen without another team in the same division getting sanctions. Ohio state and penn state
