Great Husker, good man, Gone.

Nothing else really needs to be said. He gave us everything he had. No one can ask for more.

Time for all of us to get off his back like Sug says.

forget about it.

Now, he's giving Ohio all he's got which if memory serves me correctly is their first bowl game in almost forever. Maybe that's why he was the conference coach of the year up there, but then again he was 50% of the time when he coached for NU. IMO, neither his coaching ability nor his recruiting ability got him fired.

This subject keeps coming up because... we're not there yet.

Taking steps, getting closer... but not there.

After 6 seasons of FS, we had ONE conf. championship and an undeserved whiff at a NC.

Once Cally puts together a few 10-win seasons in a row, the FS era will be largely forgotten.

Sorry to weigh in on this for all you posters that are tired of the subject, but still can't look away.

I wasn't around HuskerBoard then.

I was against Firing Osborn when he couldn't "win the big one", no matter what my Girlfriend's Dad said..I usually thought he was just joking to get me riled up, anyway.

I never cared about wins and losses as much as about how we got there..T.O. going for Two against Miami only intensified my belief that he was the right coach...

It was really tough, supporting the staff after all those last minute losses to Switzer's "Sooner Magic" year after year..But I knew..SOMEDAY..My Faithfullness would be justified.

I was kinda hoping to be able to give Frankie the same 10 or 15 years to do the same thing...But I must admit I was dissapointed with the way he started to get rid of some of his assistants to try to save his own job in his last Season..

Then..I was hoping we'd try to get Norm Chow...And I was a little dissapointed to be getting a Coach that the only thing I'd heard about him was that he called his Raider team the "Dumbest bunch of Farks" or something like that..And had gotten in trouble with the Big11 for some sort of playbook espionage..

Then, the 1st thing I hear is the new coach is "doing away" with the Walkon program or drasticly reducing it, which directly affected my Nephew, who was hoping to follow in the footsteps of my Cousin, (3Yr Walkon starter at UNL in the early 80's, who told me in an email..He probably wouldn't have stood much of a chance in this situation and One of his own twins just accepted a track schollarship at Kansas).

I still hope our coaches can bring us back to where we want to go..I just don't know if it will be any faster than the old staff.

I agreed with the firing of FS. I do not agree with how it was handled, I dont like the face NU has in its AD. Be it FS firing or the Doak O firing, or just the way NU goes about its business these days it has changed. There is less of a connection with the fan base. NU athletics is now a business, its time had to come can be argued but IMO it has strained if not split the fan base as many of the threads here are example of.

The fan base is not split. It is spintered. 13% does not carry enough clout to change anything. Move on and accept what we have. If you can't you better find another team because this staff and AD is going to be here until they decide to leave.

Thanks because I was going to use the typical 10% term, but figured someone would pick up on that instantly. But that is how I feel about it, you are always going to have the 10% that will not be happy no matter what you do. And for some reason they seem to think their 10% is always the correct way and seem to be the loudest and most obnoxious. I am truly tired of worrying about them. Let thier lives be miserable over Nebraska football, they would just find something else to b!^@h about.

Then again..It was only 13.19 % of the 8.36 % of the 1124 viewers that voted.

Sorry...I still don't feel strongly enough one way or the other to vote..Almost as bad as trying to vote for Republicans or Democrats while secretly resenting the fact that I only have two really sucky choices.

Usually..I'm a glass mostly full kinda guy, and I doubt the ones that voted "Frank fire" being a bad move should be considered "complainers"..It's just hard to "settle" or remain complacent when we all care so much about something that's not supposed to mean that much.

I'm more than willing to give our coaches all the time they need..But it's going to be next to impossible to stand idly by and not try to "correct" them when they do something the wrong way..

Like Homer Simpson says.."Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel".

or..

I want to share something with you -- the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, "Cover for me." Number two, "Oh, good idea, boss." Number three, "It was like that when I got here."

or..

Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!
