The Next Husker Controversy

I've personally always found Bell's outspoken nature a little tiring on a variety of topics, but it's never altered my opinion of him in a negative way. I've put myself in his shoes on this topic and I too would be upset if my name had been stripped, even if it's a relatively minor form of recognition. It would still be important to me.
This issue reminds me a lot of sport record debates in general - for example, winning 9 games in 1970 was a different level of achievement than it is now in 2016 because teams play more games. Or we can even look at national champions - the format for winning a title has changed, as have the requirements, over the last several decades. That doesn't mean previous champions should be stricken. I know these aren't perfect 1:1 examples.

My issues are mostly with Twitter, and I'll probably have to get over them.
As for Kenny: he was never a prima-donna on the field. I don't recall ANY wide-receiver - certainly not that skinny - who was such a beast at downfield blocking, much less a full-fledged special teams gunner.
He's a bit of a character, and I like that, too. But it does get the better of him sometimes.
It seems to come with wide receivers more than any other position.

Kenny has a history of calling out fans, the administration, and even the new coaches. In most instances, he just wants to scorch the ground just because he has the voice of a former player. Ameer has no history of any of that.
To go further, Ameer was asked his thoughts much after the fact of Kenny going to Twitter to whine. The whole situation could have been resolved if Kenny had more patience than that of a 6 year old screaming, "ARE WE THERE YET?" The University just hired a new Chancellor yesterday. But Kenny thought he needed answers immediately about names on a Vizio screen in the weight room? C'mon, Kenny just needs to be a grown a$$ man for a change and not use Twitter, or any social media, just to start drama. Leave that to the teenage girls.

I agree with this up to the point where Kenny's impatient Tweet appears to have reversed the proposed change within hours, apparently to everyone's satisfaction.

So the whistleblower (Bell) gets skewered by the fans, while the guys supporting him (Ameer, Utter, Foltz, Reilly, and others) are given a free pass because they are just responding to him?

I mean, it's not as if Kenny doesn't have access to the coaches. He spent last summer training with Coach Williams in Lincoln. And Coach Riley has easily been the most accessible coach to former players in a LONG time. So Kenny's ability to pick up the phone, and ask questions to people to find an answer to what was going on could have happened. That would have been the grown up thing to do, to ask questions, be patient, and see what could be done.
But with no back story to what had happened with the testing results, no idea who made the decision, no idea why they made the decision, or even no idea what was going to happen going forward, he just goes straight to Twitter to complain.
Kenny asks for respect of former players, at least so he says. But it's completely ironic he shows no respect to fans, the administration, the University, or the current coaches with his Twitter postings over the last few years.

He said he called and got no response from the AD. Now, he should have probably waited a bit longer to see what the issue was, but he did try to reach out.
