Utter Named to Remington Watch List

Not to belittle the guy, but WHY? What has Dylan Utter done at center to deserve to be on the watchlist?

Best of luck to Dylan and the rest of his offensive line. If they have a good year, the Huskers will have a good year.

 
Not to take anything away from Utter, but the preseason "watch lists" for all these awards are worthless. They just comb depth charts to find who is the starting center and if you had experience last year. If so, you are on the list. Then they send out a press release to get their award's name in the "news" for a day. The schools like it because then they can tout it as well.

For the Remington, there are 58 players on the watch list

ACC 9

American 7

Big 12 7

Big 10 7

CUSA 6

Independent 1

MAC 2

MWC 5

Pac 12 3

SEC 8

Sun Belt 4

So what does a prospective starting center have to do to NOT be on the list? Just curious as it seems if have the apparent starters are on it, what does that say about the rest? It does seem that being on the list is a good thing and being the Remington Award, Nebraska's three deep at center (maybe just include all Nebrakak linemen just in case one needs to be moved for injury reasons) should be at the top of the list.
