i can see phillips being a bust but is it fair that trev is put in there also...wasnt he hurt while playing?

It's fair if you define "bust" as not living up to expectations of how high they were drafted.

If you define it as underperforming for really no good reason, then it wouldn't be fair to lump Trev into that group. LP is one of the all-time busts, so much talent, so little brain.

I think the hype surrounding Trev was blow so far out of proportion it was ridiculous. Even though he was a stud in college, the NFL is a different game. And remember......it makes people feel good to see Nebraska players fail. :cheers

They count injuries as busts also. Any reason that the highly touted player didnt live up to expectations makes them a bust.

Trev also later freely admitted he was a bust and shouldn't have been drafted at that spot. However the only reason he makes this list is the argument between Kiper and the Colts guy. There have been plenty of other early picks that also disappointed.

Is there a link anywhere to this. I want to see who else is all on there. I image Leaf and Ettman are up there pretty high.

What ever happened to Phillips? Did he ever get sentenced for that incident with his car?
I hope they sentence him to a life of people throwing ping pong balls at him. You know...it doesn't take his life away...but it would just get old for him and be really annoying....kind of like him.

6. Lawrence Phillips, RB, St. Louis Rams (1996)

We could bring up other crummy picks, but nobody holds a candle to Phillips, who ranks as one of the worst human beings – not to mention athletic busts – in league history. Forget that his talent was overrated thanks to Nebraska's offensive line and scheme. Phillips' history of domestic violence in college should have kept him from being drafted, let alone becoming a first-round pick. Now he's a scar on the league that exposes what some franchises will overlook for talent. His pro career amounted to four years split between three franchises with trouble at every stop. In October, he was found guilty of seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon after trying to run down three teenagers with his car. Maybe the Rams should have drafted Eddie George, who went six picks later.
