07 expectations what are they?...........

Tough non-conference schedule but I absolutely expect we will win the north. Then, we must win the Big 12 Championship...that would be a very good year. Should draw another top notch program in a bowl.

Big 12 Champions is my expectation this year! Would love to win our bowl and finish in top 10. We cannot have 5 losses this year...I am expecting no more than 3 losses.

:box

I expect the team to play 60 minutes of football every week. We may lose a few but we will win more by not letting teams back in it. This team needs a take no prisoners attitude. When we get a team down we need to finish them off. There were to many times last year that the team would come out after half and be flat. If we take care of the little things the big things will take care of themselves. I see us playing for and winning the conference title this year and to continue to strive to get back into the BCS and title game hunt every year. We have this system type of players now and the excuses are running out as to why we lose the games we should win.

The future is brught and I am looking forward to this season.

If we win the North and get to the Big XII title game we'll probably lose that too, so I'm seeing up to 5 losses and that's not even counting whatever bowl game we may play in. It's not going to be a pretty year IMO.

Wow, NO confidence what so ever in our team. Do you forget that Missouri has NO defense. They never do, but they're even worse this year. Wake Forrest is good, but they're beatable at home. It's not like their offense is the most complex thing. Along with losing some GREAT defensive players (Wake). Southern Cal and Texas are a different story, but I wouldn't jump too quick to say we're going to lose to Missouri for one, and Wake. We're going to be a better team than we were last year. We were 14th in the nation in scoring offense...better than the likes of USC and Texas, oh yeah and Florida. That was with Zac Taylor. Sam is a better QB, we have plenty of running backs, TONS of productive wide receivers, and a pretty well improved defense.

Ya Wake won the ACC in a very bad year for the conference. They were a much improved team and a good team at that, however like I said they werent playing the best teams. Didnt they lose their #1 tackler who had like 150 tackles? Our defense will have much more speed than it did last year, and we dont have shanle anymore, who we have replaced with some very talented safeties. Bowman might be back, but even if he isnt we at least have a nickel corner now, and that helps a ton right there. Our line is going to be much better and our receivers are going to be that much more experienced, the same with lucky and glenn. I see us losing two regular season games, to Texas and USC, then beating Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championhsip. Of course I think we are going to win our bowl game as well.

I take a look at our schedule this year and I see some great home games. It will be key for us to win those games against Tex A&M, OSU, KSU, and playing our best against USC, and I think that is a winnable game if we play our best. The game that scares the sh#t out of me is in Columbia. We will have to play our asses off or it could turn into Booger Daniels having a game like Brad Smith had against us two years ago. I think we will win either the USC or the Texas game. I don't think that is unrealistic. The other game I see us losing is either A&M or to Oklahoma State, and getting a shot at Texas again in the BIG XII Championship.

wow, are you kidding me?? our running back situation is tenuous at best, our receivers have been way too inconsistent and the defensive front has lots of new faces, with no big time game experience, plus the DB's, well that is still a hope and a prayer! the reality is, there are way too many unknowns to place high expectations on this season. hope is a good thing, confidence is a good thing, bold predictions with so many unknowns is just plain crazy.

I do believe Coach C needs to and will improve on the 9 -5 record of last year. So, we need to be at least 10-4. We will be definite underdogs against Southern Cal and Texas, and probably even dogs @ Missouri. I'll, for now, assume we go 1 and 2 in those three games. All the other games, in my opinion should be wins except Wake, which is 50/50 for me (given it is at there place). That would place us at 10-2/9-3 after the regular season. We also need a "marquee" win - either in the Big 12 championship or a fairly high profile bowl game - so let's say we go 1 and 1 in those two games. So either 11-3 or 10-4.

If, by some sort of freak of nature, we do not make it to the Big 12 championship, we will not get as high as profile bowl game and end up 10-3 (if we don't make it to the big 12 championship, I have to assume we will be 9-3 after the regular season).

Nope, I'm not kidding you. Try being optimistic.

Running backs...we have Lucky, Glenn, Culbert (as it seems), Castille, Mendoza, and Helu...not to mention Lawson, who could play RB. Everyone is freaking out over Glenn's foot...he ran FINE, JUST FINE at the Spring Game. He has PLENTY of time to heal his foot he injured and played injured during last season. He's not playing right now, it'll be fine. Yeah Lucky has some durability issues, but nothing that has kept him out games at a time. But to your credit, we don't know if he's going to be playing because of his knee injury.

Wide Receivers inconsistent, yeah at times...find me receivers that AREN'T inconsistent in the Big XII. We were said to have the best receivers in the Big XII. Yeah, Nebraska. You don't get that label for having inconsistent and bad receivers, as you're making them out to be. They are VERY productive receivers and have improved tremendously over the last couple of years.

Defensive front. New faces? On the defensive line, sure. But remember Suh, and Turner? They can play, and have proved it. The other two line spots, we'll have to wait and see. We have Brandeburgh, McKeon, Octavien, Ruud, and Dillard all back at linebacker. All with experience. Then there's the great prospect Blake Lawrence who could contribute as well. Okay, so we don't have the best depth FOR NOW.

But you're coming off saying that this team is basically going to be as good if not worse than last year's team. I just don't understand the logic there. We have one glaring are of concern and it's defensive line. Not running back. We didn't have a good situation at running back in 2005 (no offense to Cory Ross, cause he had a horrible offensive line)...but we made out fine.

i read your post and wept bitter tears, as if the last bit of my hope and innocence had been ripped away from me leaving me naked and vulnerable to an all too cruel world devoid of love and happiness.

then i went out for hot wings, got drunk and stoopid at a karaoke bar and puked on my neighbors front yard before passing out on my front porch without my pants.

upon reflection, i say nebraska loses to USC and maybe texas in very close games. huskers take the north, play oklahoma in big XII champ game and win.

not sure about the bowl game, tho.

GBR!

NO confidence? I didn't say we were going winless. Anyway, I'm basing that on what I've seen from Callahan's teams so far, which is that they don't play well on the road and they choke in big games. Until I have a reason to think otherwise, I'm going to assume those trends will continue. I won't be disappointed if I'm wrong.

I am not overly concerned with the game at wake this year. They had a good season against a weak schedule. They lost the best part of their defense and our offense will put a lot of points on them this year. Mizzu could turn ito a slug fest but I feel we will win that one because by then Keller should have any remaining kinks worked out and we will over come the booger monster.

texass and usc are going to be games where the winner wont decided until late in the game. more so texass then usc. usc has a ton of talent and it is early so how it turns out could be decided by the crowd and a few breaks.

Okie st will be our revenge game this year, we should have won that one last year but who knows how that will play out.

like I said in an earlier post. If we can play a full 60 minutes of inspired football we can and will have a chance to win every game we play. If we get ahead and lay up or look past a team we could get bitten like at okie st last year.

Wake I think should be a concern.

First of all its on the road. Don't let me remind ppl of our road record in the BC era so far. Its not what one could call stellar although we improved on the road last season.

Then there is the OSU factor. The Pokes. Are they as good as Wake? I also don't have to remind you what they did to us last season on the road. Or Mizzou and KU the yr before.

Thirdly the USC factor. That game is the next week after. We can't get caught looking ahead.

Next is the well they lost some defenders. Yeah 3 DBs and a LB. Aren't we returning even less though?

Bottomline is Wake improved vastly last season (didn't they like win their conf. or was darn close?). They lost their bowl game and vowed they would be better this yr. We don't want to be just another team in their way on their merry march to respectability. Which is another issue. They will no doubt be ranked whereas we aren't quite sure if we open up ranked. Lets don't forget, we weren't at end of last season. We could very well be underdogs that day.

No way we look at them lightly. They aren't the same Deacons we seen last time. They return plenty on offense and defense to be a major player. They won't be as young and this time they will be expecting to win. Not just show up and give a good game. I think we will have the makings of a barnburner of a game this time around.
