The Huskers' line, coached by Mike Cavanaugh, is one of a select group of offensive lines named to the midseason Joe Moore Award Honor Roll, which identifies notable performances by offensive line units in games played through Oct. 8.

Nebraska is joined on the midseason honor roll by three other Big Ten offensive lines including Michigan, Ohio State and Wisconsin.

The Nebraska offensive line has powered the Huskers to a strong start to the 2016 season. Nebraska has allowed a league-low three sacks, and ranks second in the Big Ten in total offense at 472.6 yards per game. The Husker offensive line has also allowed Nebraska to control the clock, averaging nearly 35 minutes of time of possession to rank in the top 10 nationally.

...and penalties are down a HUGE amount from last year. That doesn't sound as impressive as all of the above, but it really helps keep drives alive.

Congratulations to those guys.

Number of penalties is down a bit. Penalty yardage overall is actually up a tick.

Though I don't think a lot of those in either year came from the OL. Missing a few of Lewis' false starts but other than that....

This is amazing considering the injuries we've had, and the new faces on the line since last year. Not to take anything away from the OL, but at least part of the low sack numbers can be attributed to Tommy's feet. The guy is hard to tackle behind the line. How many times has he gone through his progression with nothing open, then tucked and run for a bunch of yards?

You are right about that. Armstrong can minimize the downside of a whiffed block.

Here's what an opposing defensive coordinator would say:

"You guys get in there and blitz Armstrong hard enough that he has to get rid of the ball...but not so hard that he takes off and gets a first down out of it."
