"You know your little cousin to the east whom you mocked mercilessly a year ago, from mid-September all the way to Black Friday? The team that took advantage of weak competition and fortuitous bounces to go 12-0 in the regular season? The team that turned winning ugly into an art form? Well, its time to face reality ...

Nebraska 2016 is the Iowa of 2015."

We'll end up with a better schedule than Iowa did last year.

To this point already, it's not even close.

Oregon, yes Oregon is more talented than any team they played last year.

So, 9 of our games this year compare to theirs...

Nothing has changed, we may be the hawkeyes of last year but if we can somehow beat wisconson and Ohio St there will be nothing else to talk about. Just keep winning.

If we have an undefeated season, not a chance in hell you can compare us to Iowa. We would've beaten a much improved Wisconsin on the road, a top 2 Ohio state team on the road, then a top 5 OSU/Michigan in the conference championship game.

I will embrace what you want to label it, if that means the Huskers are undefeated, but I do see the parallels. Nebraska was considered a dark horse this year, so it is funny to see people taking down their accomplishments now that they are having success.

It is interesting that a team like Clemson gets propped up by barely winning against competition similar to worse than NU's, sans Louisville.

The biggest thing right now that is hurting Nebraska, in reputation this season, is how poor Oregon has been playing. Nebraska beat a quality opponent, then said opponent took a nose dive. If Nebraska can beat Wisky in two weeks, even in a close game, they will have that signature win for the season.

Agreed. To continue with the Clemson comparison, its ironic how perceptions differ based on strength of one win, yet discounting the other wins. Take Louisville off Clemson's schedule and NU looks like the better team this year. Its the way its always been in college football, just weird to see NU on the other side of the irony.

Unless you are Alabama, the college football season is turning into a 13 week long NCAA Basketball Tournament: Survive and Advance

That is what Iowa did until the B1G title game last year, and that is what we have done through 6 games this year.

Dirk makes some good points in his article, I am sure he just wanted to be snarky by saying Husker fans should embrace being like Hawkeye fans this year, so that's all Husker fans are going to think about.

I think Dirk is a great writer, his snarkiness gets in his way sometimes.

It is true though in a lot of ways. There have been performances this year that have been very hard to watch. But in the end the team pulls out the win. It's not how they got there, but arrived at their end goal. That was Iowa's MO all last year and never once apologized for it and neither should this team.

However, the biggest thing that separates this squad from Herky last year is what lies in waiting in three weeks in OSU. A huge crossover game on the road
