Huskers @ Wooden Legacy Tournament

I'm going to bed so I'll have to find out in the morning.

Hope I'm wrong but I get the feeling things will go much better for UCLA than NU the rest of the game.

We cut it to 7. We need to continue to play physical and shoot the ball well. Nebraska just has to keep it close until the end and we might have a chance in this one.

Anton Gill needs to be that guy who can hit wide open 3's. If he can't be, we won't beat highly competitive teams. He hit them last night and we won... he hasn't tonight and it's proven costly thus far.

Also I'll give credit where it's due- UCLA answered every time Nebraska got close. Nebraska repeatedly cut it to 3 or 2 and UCLA answered every time. Props to them, let's come out tomorrow and win this 3rd place game over Dayton

Loved the way we played today. Going to be fun to watch.

Really impressed with Watson, obviously. Also Morrow on a healthy foot, and Tai's development has been incredible... he looks really solid. Gill needs to get some more shots up in practice, he's gotta be our shooter.

UCLA has some incredibly talented shooters. Tough to beat them even on an off night, which tonight wasn't, but we still held them way under their average.

We play Va Tech in the third place game. If we come out of this trip 2-1 it will be huge for us. Tough loss tonight but that UCLA team was really good. Most people thought it would be an easy win for UCLA, but we hung tough. Role players needed to step up and score(Jack, Gill,Taylor,Jordy) and we might have won the game. I am impressed with our fight and drive and how we competed tonight. Give credit to UCLA for knocking down shots, and on the bright side we outscored them in the paint.

Let's get this out of the way first. Was this game against UCLA ever one that Nebraska was going to win? No. Okay? Glad we got that out of the way.

Because the fact that this was a game that Nebraska had no chance of being in makes the fact that Nebraska was in this game throughout all the more impressive and positive. Like NUance alluded to above, we're finally seeing a "team" effort as opposed to the efforts of a single star player. We're seeing everyone drive to the hoop instead of just Pettaway or Shields. UCLA was averaging 104 points per game and came away with 83 thanks to late free throws. Nebraska had it down to a 2-point game deep into the second half against the 14th best team in the country.

Let's hope they can keep this kind of play up, because if they do, they could make some waves in the Big 10.

Although we're going to have to figure out what to do against a zone.
