Riley/Langsdorf to Oregon??...

Where is this coming from? I've now heard it from 3 different people. I scoffed at the first two. But the 3rd is a pretty reasonable voice that I speak with often. Anyone else see or hear it? I think it's ridiculous. Ppl who start sh#t like this are morons. I cant imagine there's any legs to it whatsoever.

Now here me out...

This would be a major blow to Nebraska.

BIG Reasons why it would be bad for us:

-Fallout with recruits

-Reset button on program again

-Punch to the gut that a Coach would rather be there (makes us feel less relevant than we already feel)

Reasons why I could see it happening:

-Lots and lots of pressure on Riley to do well here. Perhaps he feels the heat and doesn't like the possible end game scenario for him.

Reasons why I don't see it happening:

-Has said this is his final journey

-Seems to enjoy it in Nebraska

-Has got some really good building blocks here (recruiting chips)

-Has moved tons of people he is close to out to Nebraska to restart their lives and would feel bad making them change their lives again so soon.

Riley knows that region, with Corvallis being just down the road.

With the relatively lower resources available to him in Oregon State, Riley was still able to build enough of a reputation that he was contacted by both Alabama & USC about coaching vacancies before accepting the Nebraska job. He's well-regarded in coaching circles, if not by everyone across the state of Nebraska.

He's a good California recruiter.

He knows how to evaluate talent.

So... there are reasons why that popped into my head. But it's not like I think the odds of Riley actually leaving Nebraska are even 5%.

I don't think that Riley would go if they did want him, those schools don't like each other. It'd be like Nebraska hiring Barry Switzerland to replace a retiring Tom Osborne. Not a hire that would be popular with most.

They get Riley, and we get frost. How would you feel about that? I think most oregon fans would be disappointed and most nebraska fans would be happy
