Farniok, Raridon, Wilson Bring Competition, Fire to OLine

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Raridon and Farniok ever get in a fistfight, even though they’re both offensive linemen, because they’re so competitive,” Cavanaugh said. “They’re gonna be kind of fun.”

After a season in which injuries hit and depth was challenged, the trio will go from scout team to in the mix as redshirt freshmen in spring workouts.

That should ramp up the options and competition on the line.

“That group we brought in a year ago … tough guys,” Cavanaugh said. “So, (I) really like those guys.”

Nebraska is seeing a little more of them during December practices, and some thoughts turn to the future as the Huskers lose three seniors after the Music City Bowl.

As of now, Cavanaugh projects Raridon at center, Farniok at right tackle and Wilson at guard. The Huskers also have guard Bryan Brokop from their last recruiting class. The staff considered playing Wilson after losing left guard Jerald Foster to a mid-August injury, but improvised instead.

It's great to hear about these guys. Can't wait to see them on the field.

If they were on the cusp of playing as true freshman last summer, it seems like we can expect an upgrade at a couple of positions now that they have a redshirt year under their belt.

A month of practice after the regular season and a winter, spring and summer of weights will do wonders. It will be fun to see how far the last 2 recruiting classes take us.

Slowly we are filing spots on the O line with guys I was really excited about coming out of HS. And, they are still very young.

I thought that Brokop was a possibility at tackle. Considering we are thin there and heavy in the interior, I think it makes sense to start him outside.

Cav didn't get enough credit for the OL class he brought in last year. As of now for 17' it isn't too impressive unless he can get at least one of Sarell or Filiaga.

Really excited to see what these guys can do in the trenches. I'm tired of us getting pushed around by Wisconsin and Iowa. Let's hope these guys can be the beginning of something great.

I played against Raridon in high school. Yes, he kicked my a$$ 😂

I would guess he's not getting as much credit because two of those guys were already committed to Nebraska before he got here and a foundation had been laid for Farniok.

Credit to Cav for getting Wilson and locking up Farniok but he definitely walked into a pretty good situation.

I thought that the previous staff was in on Wilson too?

Brokop and Raridon were the only 2 who committed before Bo and co. were fired. Even if we were on them beforehand the others committed over 7+ months later. We have also seen what recruits will leave even when a position coach is let go or moves on (Donte Williams).

Pretty sure not.

This.

I'm not so sure the last staff would've landed Farniok. That's just me though.

That's what I like to hear. I like having high character guys on the team; but we need some mean, nasty guys, too; especially on the line.
