JFC people, the man is a doctor and had to work the next day. He has a responsibility to patients. Im sorry you people thinking if he would have just obeyed and none of this would have happened do not have a job that OTHER people depend on in a timely manner...

So because he's a doctor he's more important than anybody else on that plane? Lol

To his sick and possibly dying patients, yes, he is more important than the person that works a computer job all day...

What about the other passengers waiting in Louisville to board this plane? Have you ever thought of that? Maybe someone at that airport was trying to make it home for a funeral, family emergency, vacation, a doctor or two trying to get to their patients, etc...see where I'm going here?

Did it occur to you that other people on that flight had places and things to do? Maybe they had more important things to attend too?

This little fiasco could've or did affect other people hundreds if not thousands waiting for their flights that are now delayed.

This guy is a con artist, he screwed people getting them addicted in the past to make money and planned to sue this air line before he was physically escorted out.

People who ought to be sticking up for each other have instead been engaged to defend corporations and pass on solidarity.

As long as they aren't the ones being hurt, of course.

And when it does come to their turn getting the short shrift from some negligent or exploitative corporation, with limited consumer protections and recourse, they can do little but complain into the wind.

Solidarity is a big threat to corporations' desire to avoid accountability. It's no wonder they've made wise investments to break it up.

This little fiasco could've or did affect other people hundreds if not thousands waiting for their flights that are now delayed.

The United employee then told the man that if he did not get off the plane, she would call security. As she turned to leave, the man shouted after her, Mr. Bridges said. Specifically, he said, the passenger complained that he had been singled out because he was Chinese.

It was really intense, really uncomfortable, he said.

The situation also became uncomfortable for the United employees who then got on board and took the vacated seats, Mr. Bridges said. They were berated by passengers and told they should be ashamed, he said.

The man who had been removed returned to the flight briefly, Mr. Bridges said. Video shows him jogging through the aisle, repeatedly saying, I have to go home.

Omg dude, remember when Knapp told you to do a little research in the P and R forum a couple weeks back, well nows the time to do that. He got back on the plane AFTER the incident. Compassion for a guy who REPEATEDLY ignore commands and even after they advised him that they would physically remove him and still nothing. I have very little compassion for dumbasses like this guy

That's what older doctors do buddy. They used to give out narcotics like it was candy. I work with older doctors that still do that, because that is the way it used to be before laws were put into place to limit narcotic prescriptions. And he said he will sue IF they PHYSICALLY force him off the plane.

Funny thing about that - haven't heard from anyone complaining of this. Only people saying that what they witnessed was ridiculous and uncalled for.

Having no compassion for a single person trying to do nothing other than get home, earn their living and live their own life is weird.

Giving the benefit of the doubt to a massive company worth billions of dollars who played at least an equal role in causing this situation, is even weirder.

Even if the blame is split 50/50, why would you not find it within yourself to give preference or at least understanding, respect, and sympathy to the side with less power and more to lose? If Dr. Dao gets off that plane, what does he stand to lose? Clients for his business/practice. If United finds a different solution for their crew members instead of kicking him off, what do they stand to lose? At worst, a little bit of work by someone on a computer and an hour of travel time for 4 people from O'Hare to Midway, while also saving thousands of dollars.

Instead, his life is at worst ruined, and at best a total disaster for the time being. The man needs reconstructive surgery, has had a traumatic brain injury, and has had a past that it seems he has worked very hard to move on from be thrust into a global spotlight all because he was determined to get home.

That scenario should have never had the possibility of coming into existence, and it wasn't him who sprung it forth, whether he responded well to it or not.

Dewiz, what do you think you would do if you were far from home this September when your wife is about to give birth to another kid, or a parent is about to pass away, or you've got some other emergency and you find yourself being told that you can't stay on the flight that you paid for and sat down on?

I hope that situation never happens to you.

But if it does, and you (very reasonably because you're a human being) resist because you know you have to be home, and you get your teeth knocked out, and you get concussed, and millions of people drag your name through the mud for it...

well, I hope that if that happened to you I wouldn't be as cold-hearted, unkind, and indifferent as you're being.

That's what older doctors do buddy. They used to give out narcotics like it was candy. I work with older doctors that still do that, because that is the way it used to be before laws were put into place to limit narcotic prescriptions. And he said he will sue IF they PHYSICALLY force him off the plane.

Oh so since he's an older doctor that makes it alright....welp settled that....lol. Dao deceived his patients and fraudulently prescribed them the wrong medication....98 felony counts man come on
Once Dao boarded the plane he is required by federal law to comply with the flight crews instructions.

Technically, a passenger who refuses to get off a plane could be charged with violating federal law, even if the officials who removed them from the flight exercised their authority in an excessive way

The problem is you pull this crap all the time. You constantly get the story wrong because you don't bother to look into it, then come to conclusions based on false information.

It's utterly baffling that you side with the company who thought their airline employees were so important they couldn't put them on another plane taking off at the same time.

FYI, the plane was not overbooked. It was full. Then they decided to let 4 extra people onboard at the last minute.

I'll listen and obey authority. Whatever money reimbursement they offer me I'll take it if it's acceptable (I was ok with the $800 United offered). I figure out another flight back or I drive my a$$ to whatever destination I need to be at.

What I won't do is make an a$$ of myself and not comply to the authority of the flight crew. Let's say I don't comply with their instructions and they call in security or a cop, my a$$ is then complying and I'll remove myself off the plane.

A lot of you are failing to understand that it's a federal law to not comply to the flight crews instructions.

Here's the difference between myself and the doctor. I listen to authority and I respect said authority. People nowadays have little to no respect to authority and think that they are entitled to everything and anything. Listen, follow the rules/laws, respect authority and there won't be any problems.

Never said it was right. It pisses me off when the doctors I work with give narcotics to people that are clearly drug seekers. But that is the way things used to be and we all know old people get set in their ways.

He was able to get licensed again, so he must have convinced them that he turned his life around. Medical licensing is no joke. So while yes, he made mistakes in the past, but like others on this topic have said, his past has NOTHING to do with this incident.
