Happy 94th Birthday Memorial Stadium

They used horses and a plow.

Kinda laid the bedrock of what works near that land, eh?
Does anybody know if the horses and plow were just part of the ceremonial ground breaking or did they really get used for construction?

My guess is they were ceremonial. I have been curious about the construction of Memorial and how well it has held up. Mostly about footings and soil mechanics as I doubt it was well understood understood in those days. If I remember they did a lot of shoring up in the late 80's and 90's. She looks pretty good for her age though!

 
Those probably were ceremonial. But, people were still farming with horses then so it's not out of the question that some of the dirt work was done with horses.
