Explain to me why she would be a good hire.  What has she done to deserve the job?

Because they coached, were involved in the athletic department, and had experience leading student athletes.  Now explain why Karen Jennings deserves a shot.

Because he was an AD before.  Not hard to realize that he was qualified.
