O/U on NU wins is at 13.5:  I think that is low as can be (remember I am not a Miles fan at all)  NU is not a sleeper.  NU will win 19 games.

The Big Ten is TERRIBLE this year.  NU can pounce.  

With that said.  MSU will struggle early and be an a freaking terror in March.

BigTen is far from TERRIBLE the conference doesn't have the clout at the top that it has in the past however the bulk of the conference the teams that have consistently been ahead of NU will be very similar to past years.  If NU rises to the middle or upper 1/3 it has nothing to do with the conference being TERRIBLE - much more to do with NU improvement.  If NU were to win the conference (which will not happen) then you could make a valid point that the upper 25% of the conference isn't what it normally is....

No, it is terrible.  Traditionally strong teams will suck this year in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio State.  Between those 3 teams they will be lucky to get 20 conference wins.  

When Minnesota is the second best team in conference and when PSU is above Illinois, Indiana and Ohio State...the conference is terrible.  

But that doesn't matter...it is not NU's fault that the conference hurting...all they need to do now is take advantage of it.

Teams with no chance of the dance:

Illinois

Indiana

OSU

Rutgers

Teams with a chance at the dance:

Michigan

PSU

Nebraska

Northwestern 

Iowa

Teams that will make the dance for sure:

MSU

Minny

Purdue

Maryland

Wisconsin

It is a really down year but don't be mad about that be happy.

 
Just because "traditional powers" are not good does not mean the conference is terrible.  Other teams have stepped up to fill the void.

Of course they do...teams still have to finish 1-14.

But...is the conference way tougher when you have OSU, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Purdue and MSU all being really good?  Or when it is MSU, Minny, Purdue, NW and PSU?

Now...next year...the Big Ten is going to be nasty tough.  But this just happens to be a year where it is going to be way down with the exception of MSU that right now is the second team picked behind Duke to win it all.

 
@teachercd I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment.  Big Ten is going to be really good this year.  The name on the front of the jersey doesn't have any bearing on how good that team's "good" is.  Northwestern being a top ten team doesn't somehow make playing them easier than a top 10 Ohio State.

Nebraska will be fortunate to avoid playing on the first day of the B1G tournament.

This is the big year for Northwestern, expect a sweet 16 type run from them this year.

Iowa is fixing to make a big jump up the standings this year too.  They're gonna be GOOD.  They're kind of where Northwestern was last year or maybe two years ago.  Get ready to get real sick of hearing the name Bohannon in the next few years.

Iowa took those lumps last year to be ready for this year, that is for sure.

 
MSU, Minneosta, Purdue, Iowa, NW, and Michigan i think will make the dance, Nebraska and Maryland have the potential to for sure

Illinois lost to EIU. lol
