Former Husker Great Minter retires

I used to love watching him run around in the secondary for the Huskers. Mike Minter has now retired from the NFL. His knees were getting pretty bad so I guess he figured he would walk away from the game while he still could. Good luck to your new retirement Mike, you sure earned it!

Sorry to hear about this as he was 1/2 of the 'Husker tandem in the Carolina "D" that I loved to root for.
Yeah I heard his press conference. He was pretty choked up and it sounded like the chosen few who actually give a chit about the game instead of contracts and bling bling! Not to mention when the owner of the Carolina Panthers cries, you know Minter was special! I would LOVE to see him come to NU and replace Elmo as our DB's coach. Nothing against Elmo but the way Mike could mentor and prep future CB's and Safties. WOW! The skies the limit. Yes I know it's a pipe dream but it sure would be nice.

Not to mention we don't know if he wants to coach or would be any good at it.

He was a lot of fun to watch with when he was at NU. I kind of last touch with him as a pro since I didn't get see too many games. At least he did not wait around and try to keep playing and tarnish his career. Good luck Mike!!!

I believe he is retiring as the Panthers alltime leader in tackles, interceptions, and interceptions returned for touchdowns. Or at least he was the leader in two out of those three.
