It's hard to tell. It's the combination of heart and how your body responds. Some athletes make remarkable comebacks from career ending injuries and some are just not the same. All we can do is hope and pray for the best. After 2 serious knee injuries, can Huskers expect that he will be back at 2005 form? Isn't it possible that he won't be as good as the healthy CBs? This defense needs CBs and OLBs, big time!
IMO, anyone who is rehabbing and working like crazy to get back ASAP isn't going to play with hesitancy and tenetiveness. There are two ways to look at it, I suppose.
1) Bowman rises to the occasion, realizing our secondary is weakened severely without him, and he gives each game, each down, each movement his everything, and he resurfaces as a dominant force. We'll sing his praises as INTs and broken passes pile up, and partially because of his play and increased potency at the safety positions, our D becomes a pass defense machine.
2) Bowman's injury gets the best of him. He plays, but with little flair and a lot of hesitancy. We'll pretty much be watching a rerun of last season's pass D with the added pang of wondering what could have been if he'd been healthy. The safeties soften the blow, but every so often we'll find ourselves getting torched by the deep ball. Our big games this year become more doubtful with the disappointment of his performance.
Honestly, the truth could also lie somewhere in the middle. Maybe Bowman comes back and plays pretty well. Although we've had the discussion before––how much of Bowman is real and how much of it is the way we WANT him to be? Anything less than domination at this point will probably get attributed to his injuries and inability to come back from them. I won't say he's a media creation, but I need a strong half season before I start singing his praises at the top of my voice.
I do hope he's as good as people say he is. We're going to need him.
:bonez And USC must be razed to the ground. :bonez
True.I think he has a great attitude and is a hard worker and that's obvious by how quickly he is back on the field. I don't think you'll see him turn into a Herian type of player after his injury. I think this guy knows that his time may be precious based on his past injuries and he is going to go all out just to say that he gave it all that he could. :bonez

I couldn't agree more, the only way to truly come back from an injury is to play like you never got injured in the first place! No hesitation, no second thoughts, no fear! I pray he can do it because he can be a definite difference maker! GBR:yeahI think he has a great attitude and is a hard worker and that's obvious by how quickly he is back on the field. He will either play his mind out and get a shot at the NFL, or get injured...I think he knows this and who wouldn't go all-out for the shot at the big show? :horns2

At least that.At least our d backfield IMO is deeper so if he isnt quite there, we should still be quite a bit better than last year.
