Omaha Burke Super-State linebacker and Nebraska commit Nick Henrich will not play in the Class A No. 1 Bulldogs’ final regular-season game Friday at home against Papillion-La Vista because of a knee injury suffered in last week’s 38-9 win over Millard North.
His father, Mike Henrich, said his son suffered the injury blocking a punt. An X-ray over the weekend did not show an ACL tear or anything major, but the elder Henrich said they are still awaiting results of an MRI done earlier this week.
“The initial X-ray was negative, and that was a huge relief,” Mike Henrich said. “Hopefully we get really good news on the MRI as well in the next day or two, so then it will just be a matter of getting the swelling down and going through rehab.
