The rules are dumb, but we must uphold them at all costs!

That is what the Dems want to do...continue to uphold our dumb immigration laws.  Seriously what is their current policy proposal to solve the flaws in the immigration process....and this is not talking about what to do with the millions of illegals...it's fixing the system for future people who want to come here legally.

Im going to go out on a limb and say you have no idea what DACA even is because you have no idea what youre talking about.

Wrong again....some on the left and media wanted to label Republicans as Nazis or whatever derogatory term of their choice, but I do not know of any elected national Republicans choosing to call themselves Nazis.  Meanwhile, Bernie, Cortez and other Dems getting lots of air-time on networks are identifying as Socialists and pushing that agenda.  It doesn't mean all Dems are socialists but there are real elected members of the Left who do identify with socialism.

Trump tried giving quite a bit on immigration and doubled the number of DACA illegals to give the path to citizenship but the Dems did not want to play.  It's hard to make progress with a group whose sole purpose since November 2016 has been to resist.  Now by having the House it may force the Dems to come to the table and play ball.  

Now tell me, will you support the Dems pushing countless investigations in the House against Trump, or will you condemn that approach if they fail to deliver on policies that could benefit the American people?

You know this is funny, because the story I heard was that the Dems agreed to what Trump wanted and later reneged after talking to his immigration hawks like Stephen Miller because it wasn't extreme enough for them. That's kind of where your dealmaker analogy falls short. You can't strike a deal and then go away and ask for more and get mad when the deal falls apart. I'm not sure if he knows it but that is not at all how dealmaking works.

And heck yes Dems should provide real oversight on the corruption going on in D.C. right now. The Swamp is running amok. It's a constitutional duty that the GOP has ignored for 2 years. So heck yes Dems should actually do it.

That is your opinion. Granting citizenship to those who didn't follow the rules is dumb to me, just as Obamacare was dumb to me as it didn't address the core of rising health care costs.  Our current immigration laws are dumb and outdated.  If the Dems believe so strongly in granting citizenship to DACA illegals, they have to give a little.  Moreover, the amount of money spent on illegals entering our country is more than the cost of building the wall.  

Flat out not true, economics on illegals is really complex but probably a net positive. I understand I won't convince you other wise, but there is some great non-partisan information out there if you want to break it down.

Go back and revisit all the concessions Trump made on immigration which many on the Right were upset about.  Resist has been the only position from the Dems for the last 2 years.  Regarding corruption, what specifically are you referring to?

This was early phase of Trumps concessions and the Dems immediately turned it down and refused to bargain. There were then other permeatations of a proposal and they all got rejected.

What would you call the Republican stance under Obama? 8 years of reaching across the aisle? Hell, they won't even try to work with anyone now.

So how does medicaid expansion and Ricketts both win? I swear people need to actually look at the policies of the people they are voting for. Thought Krist would be good for this state, disappointed to have Ricketts run this state for the next 4 years.

It's interesting. I wonder what would happen if it was the people voting on bills. That's what came to my mind with the medicaid expansion happening. Not saying this is at all realistic, but I wonder how much people actually know about the candidates they're voting for.

Summary for the night...both parties can claim some victories, but there was definitely not a blue wave.  Trump's focus on many Senate seats seem to have helped the GOP add to their majority.

Arkansas voted for a voter ID law and it looks like it's potentially a decent one.

They will issue free photo IDs to anyone who needs one.

No, im VERY much for affordable healthcare with better deductibles. The plans right now are ridiculous. It was MUCH better before obamacare. A lot more plans to choose from with optional deductibles and coinsurance. Right now as a self-employed person, i have one plan to choose from, Medica(which sucks), with high deductibles for more than was paying before obamacare. We need to go back to a better version of what we had before obamacare. Why do you think so many people want medicaid expansion? One reason of course is laziness, but the other is for a way to get insurance other than health market choices which there really isnt any choices. s#!t, pretty soon we will be like Canada anyway, with everyone on Medicaid.

Better for whom? When the ACA passed the uninsured rate fell 6-8%. I'm pretty sure those people would say the ACA isn't perfect and Medicaid could be better, but it drastically improved their healthcare situations.

Like I said in my post on this this morning, Ricketts was re-elected so now he and the state can put work requirements or do whatever else they want to conservative this thing up. Or he could just pull a Paul LePage in Maine and not pass it anyway, ignoring the will of the people.

But either way it won't fix a lot of the problems in healthcare which screw up premiums, because that doesn't really have anything to do with Medicaid. That's something that's got a lot of causes that we'll have to all tackle together.

People should have healthcare. This isn't just lazy people. It's the working poor. It's the disabled. It's single mothers and their children. They have just as much right to go to the doctor as any of the rest of us even if they don't have a great gig. I am extremely proud of our state for choosing to extend a helping hand to these people today.

Is obamacare perfect? Hell no. So why didnt repubs try and fix the bill we already have in place? Makes no sense to come out with an even worse bill and try and push it through within 2 weeks. 

Are there freeloaders on medicaid? Yes. But working in healthcare I can tell you that 90% of the people on medicaid have major health issues and/or work but do not have high paying jobs. A lot of kids on medicaid also while their parents have insurance. Most likely because they have some sort of pre-exisiting condition that would bankrupt the parents if the kid had regular insurance. Thats the reason I voted for medicaid expansion. I see it first hand everyday, the pros and cons. 

I work in healthcare too, and probably make at least 50% of my $ from insurance. As far as medicaid goes, i would say only about 20% of adults i see that have it, should actually be on it. Plenty able bodied, minimal health issues, with plenty of jobs available. And they continue to have kids just to get as much help from the government they can. It ends up being a never ending cycle b/c there are no consequences to not keep doing it. The same families have it over and over for generations b/c the system is so easy to beat, and now its gonna be even easier. But lets just keep increasing the taxes of people who actually work so we can take care of them.

Maybe eliminate the tax incentives for kids. Then those people would go straight to work.
