Took this idea from Reddit. Here's the concept:

Aliens have contacted Earth. They request one person to represent mankind in talks between our species.

Who do we nominate?

Interesting list. I didn't LOL until I got to Terry Crews (not that his is necessarily the funniest) but he always makes me laugh. @GSG smartly took the homer pick so now it feels weird to go with Tom Osborne. So my pick is.....

If prior experience is helpful, Sigourney Weaver would mop the floor with Will Smith.  

 
my top 2 are already picked.    and out of the rest of the list i guess i would choose obama.   he is well spoken and can be very diplomatic.   first contact would require those qualities.

 
Jim Nye

With his aerospace background, he may have a better understanding of how their ships work and help humanity recreate it and his intellectual curiosity would lead to some interesting 'communication' between man and alien.
