Maybe they are supposed to corner differently based on how the coverage is being played.  There wouldn't be any point in a square corner - which would be slower - if the the defender is already turned the other way.  Get outside and turned as quick as you can - round it off - and show the QB you're open.

He was 5 yards off because they were in a trips bunch look.  They already had a defender pressing.  They have 3 defenders at different depths.  It makes it harder to run rub or pick routes.  But yes you are correct Williams ended up open

I’m talking about the end of the route. He was wide open and it’s not because the DB wasn’t faked. You can argue he didn’t put on a clinic and I don’t disagree but arguing he wasn’t faked when the WR was wide open is weird.
