Anyone have any sort of idea on when he might be back?

I know it’s not our place to ask about injuries and the like, but my goodness. We don’t have anyone else at Nebraska besides one guy who can consistently kick touchbacks and hit 40 yard field goals?

 
Hip flexor injuries suck. Had one when I was younger and wasn't the same all season. I'm sure it's even worse for a kicker

I think sitting can cause them to tighten up.  He should stop going to class or stand up while attending.

I say just stop going to class. I've heard homework doesnt help with the healing process.

But really, I kept playing with mine so that didnt help. Hopefully hes close. Think it's around 3-4 weeks to be healed if it isnt bad

Same for me.  I strained mine picking up hay bales and it took almost the whole season to get better.  It was not fun playing with it and I wasn't trying to kick.

 
It’s so dire, in fact, that the Huskers turned last week to the university’s club soccer program for help. And after punter-turned-place-kicker Isaac Armstrong missed a 48-yard field goal in overtime Saturday to seal Colorado’s 34-31 victory, Dewitt said, Nebraska is actively considering a pair of walk-on candidates from the student-run group, which operates as part of the campus recreation organization.

One of them, Trevor Yanovich, a junior education major and former two-time Class B all-state defender in soccer at Omaha Gross Catholic, has inched closer to earning a roster spot after two days of solid practice.

“He’s not just a fly-by-night kind of guy,” said Tim Johnk, a former Nebraska fullback who coached Yanovich in high school. “He honed his craft over the years.”

This is why I feel like the program is in good hands. If there is a problem, they address it. Not when its convinient, but right now. These coaches seek out the issues and do something about them. It's seemed like in the past our coaches responded to problems by doing the exact same things that created the problems. They were content with their system. Our staff looks for new solutions and is constantly looking to improve not only the team but themselves.

I mean I'm an optimist and all, but I don't know how you spin recruiting a club soccer player as an emergency kicker as a positive. They're not the first staff to try finding specialists already on campus, it doesn't usually work. Maybe it does this time and I guess credit the staff for leaving no stone unturned, but I don't think it's as novel an idea as they're making it seem. It's been tried plenty, we just don't hear much about it because it rarely works.

You may be right about that in particular but its just a pattern I see. This isn't the only area where this trait is present and that is more where other coaches faltered

It could be but thats not the way I see it. Again it's more a pattern of procedure. Feel free to interpret the situation however you wish.
