"Hot Seat" Coaches...Who would you want at NU?

After talking about those coaches mentioned, let's talk about how bad we'd be if "Stache" would have been hired. He's really gotten that Pitt team fired up. He's a complete disgrace and been an embarrassment everywhere he's went. I still think Houston Nutt is a clown as well. They just got beat by Alabama that was all but put on sudden death probation. If you take McFadden off that team, they're mediocre at best.

Not a lot of people I know was happy with the list SP had but under the circumstance of just firing a coach who was 9-3 what coach in their right mind would want to coach here.

i think we are still on track with cally as head coach, BUT i don't know if he has the will to fire Coz, they are too damn close and that may continue to hurt the overall program.

cally's best move though, get rid of Coz (even though the kids were outclassed, the D play has been uninspiring since he has been here)

and bring in a proven D coordinator. it is his only chance to revamp the D play and attitude that the Blackshirts USED TO HAVE.

agree, leave the head coach alone, sh#t can the whole defensive coach group and bring in a proven DCO and let him bring in his own assistants. turn over the whole D to the new DCO and keep working on the installation of the offense. that's what T.O. did when he had McBride and it worked well.

Definitely a very good first step. It might be tough finding an up and coming D coordinator to come to NU when we haven't won and show no talent on defense. We might want to look at former head coaches who used to be DC's. The list of DC's for Callahan might be slim. Many don't realize this but BC doesn't get much coaching respect outside of being an OC in the NFL.

I agree. This is what really still fuels my hatred for Pud. If Pud had any vision at all, he would have had a plan of attack rather than acting like a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum. He had no plan and no vision, so he was left with a list of crappy coaches. In this regard, I kind of see a similarity between BC and Pud. BC's vision or lack thereof has put together some very questionable assistants. I don't even think I need to go there in reference to Coz. Norvell who left for UCLA to be the offensive coordinator put up a whopping 6 points against an inferior team as they got beat like a drum 44-6. IMO, there are some other questionable assistants on his staff. We shall see if there's any kind of housecleaning at season's end or not. I'm going to wager that we're stuck with these assistants until they either leave on their own accord or BC is shown the door. I wonder if Pud feels like an :asshat after the big contract extension? I said after he was given the extension that Pud would look like a clown once again if we got shelled by USC.

I wouldn't take any of those coaches and especially Kirk Ferentz!!!! He's a joke for a coach and makes a sh#t ton of money!!!! I like Cally I just think we need to re-evaluate our defensive coordinator, but I don't get paid the big bucks to do that so until that time comes I'm going to stay behind these guys.

I wouldnt take any of them, well maybe Charlie but the others no way.. I havent been the biggest fan of Cally cause I dont think he is that good of a coach, but I think Coz needs to go he hasent shown anything. Last year we couldnt stop people from throwing on us, which I know was some what due to the lack of depth we had back there but now we can stop the run.. Give me a break we need someone that can put it all together.

None of them to replace Cally, though if Tubberville gets canned I would love for us to steal his DC Will Muschamp to replace Coz at DC and LB coach. Muschamp did a great job with the linebackers at LSU, wasn't bad in Miami and is doing well at Auburn.

I guess I'll defer judgment to I Bleed Red, seeing as he is our resident expert evaluator of head coach qualifications for NU ;)
