Why not Gill as head coach i guarentee he wouldn't settle for a 41-40 win over ball state and i'm not flushing the team down the toilet
No he would settle for a mighty three wins a season- a vast improvement over his 06 record

Answer this.... Where's the intensity we used to have?
Intensity where, on defense? It's gone. Once again, you're advocating removing a head coach who has been putting together a progressively improving offense (which you have said is doing fine) and has little to do with defense, all because you don't like how the defense is playing. What kind of sense does that make? Should we fire the quarterback coach because D-line coach isn't getting it done? That would make just about as much sense as what you're suggesting.

Just not sure in what realm this "Offense is fine".

I'm still not convinced that the WCO can work in College FB..At least not anything but a severely watered down version.

Way too much time spent learning it... taking away from time spent scrimmaging it..Unless you can somehow recruit players that don't need any work on fundamentals..Even then..Our Coaches don't seem to be able to think on their feet during a game.

Well, our offense kept us in this game. Run blocking hasn't been too good all year, and it wasn't that great today, but we ran enough when we needed to. I think the offense is improving each year and will continue to do so. "Fine" means they're about where I think they should be, NOT that they don't have room for improvement.

And what's that...our coaches can't think on their feet? Are you saying, as many have in the past, Callahan is incapable of making adjustments? Have you looked at the stats for the 1st half offense compared to the 2nd? He didn't make any adjustments, huh? Where are all the people screaming about Callahan not being able to make adjustments now? lol

If you meant Cosgrove with that comment, well you'll get no argument from me.

500+ Total yards seems fine to me

By my count, we averaged 4.4 yards per rush, with Lucky averaging 4.9. It's not great, but it could have been better had we had time to establish the run and pound their defense into submission. Okay, the worst grade you can give the running game is an incomplete and say the jury's still out. It could have been worse. If those backs played like our defense....although it could have been better, I think you consider the unusual circumstances and reserve judgment.

By the way, the 3.2 ypc figure is arrived at by including Keller's 5 rushes for -19 yards. If you want to say that, then Keller never got sacked. I believe three of those were sacks, one was a fumble he got back, and one was a broken play...I'd say the two non-sacks should be part of the rushing game, but all the same, that's still over 4 yards a carry. It's not awful, again, circumstances allowing...

We can all agree Lucky had mostly a heck of a game, and our O-line run blocking left some to be desired.

hey ebly everything about nebraska is either just fine or ok. i'm not fine or ok with that, it's embarassing to see that at home against BALL STATE i don't care what their offense is like we should of beat them by alot. it's about a team attitude and it doesn't seem to be there

Then perhaps you should place the blame where it truly lies, with the defense.

Obviously you're not fine with the offense, because you just listed it as a problem, or least something you're not satisfied with. So which is it? The offense will continue to improve as it has been for quite a long while now. But instead, you want to axe the guy responsible for our offense because you've got a problem with the defense (and apparently just can't decide about the offense).

Yes, let's bring in Turner Gill, someone that hasn't done anything to prove he's good head coaching material. Hey, a lot of people say that about Callahan...but wait, you don't like him much, do you? So you want to repeat what you see as the same mistake we've already made? Wow, another good call.

:rollin

What's that I hear? Oh yeah, the sound of the whole team being flushed down the toilet, not just the defense. Good call, buddy.
Ebyl, lay off the guy. You attacks are so rude and rarely add anything.

nfla, here is the problem I'm having with your idea. You're putting forth this idea with nothing to show what would make it a good idea.

First you don't like our defense, but our offense is fine with you, so you want to fire the head coach, who really doesn't do much on defense, but runs the offense you're fine with. Then you decide that the offense isn't quite good enough, either. You don't like the intensity of the team, but it seems to me the real lack of intensity comes from the defense. And you want Turner Gill as the head coach, of all people, who has done nothing to show he'd be any good. This argument has been used against Callahan quite frequently, and you obviously have a problem with Callahan since you want him gone, but you're quite willing to bring in yet another person who has done nothing to show he'll make a good head coach. There's simply no logic to what you're suggesting.

i dont have a problem with callahan's offense but in every game i think he shouldn't stay with the run as long as he does unless it's working or at the end of the game. let's clear that up i like callahan's offense. The defense of couse is the problem and it's embarassing to watch. The turner gill thing is more of a next head coach thing not a right now thing. i know what your saying but i was just putting that idea out there.

Well, I'm the first person to say that if Nebraska isn't showing possibilities of frequently contending for the Big XII title and BCS bowls after 2-3 more seasons are up, it'll be time to look around. That will have been enough time for him to show whatever he's capable of doing. And I also freely admit he may not be the one to take us to our next national championship. But to me that's still up in the air and the next few years will tell whether he's got that potential or not. If he doesn't, by that time I think we'll be able to find someone better than Turner Gill (unless he does something in the next few years to change my mind).
