Kevin Cosgrove is still a good DC

Cosgove is still a good DC...............if he were a coach for Akron. I have defended Coz alot over the last few years, but after today, I'm done. We just dont play sound defense. We are out of position, tackle poorly, make ineffective adjustments, no team unity and only two starters play with intensity. It is more than scheme, its technique, leadership and fire, and its becoming painfully obvious that we have none of the above. Enjoy what I hope is your last year Coz.

I have to give him credit for atleast TRYING today. He definitely made adjustments...its just that nothing worked.

His biggest mistake was leaving Asante in the game.

Well...yeah....I guess. But his "adjustments" did result in NU giving up 429 second half yards including two drives of 80 yards and one of 96. And in the second half we gave up four touchdowns and a field goal for a total of 30 second half points (they missed one PAT).

If that is the way he is going to adjust all year, then we are screwed! I hope not though. :bonez

Jeez, man...NU forced a missed PAT that ended up winning the game...what more do you want? ;)

NU forced nothing, their kicker missed.

We had no defense against Ball State, do you seriously believe the games we have left on our schedule are going to come down to a fieldgoal if we continue to play D like we did this game? I don't think so.

Dude, you are right! I can't believe I was looking at it in such a glass-half-empty kind of way. Great job Coz. Oooops, wait a minute, Coz doesn't coach special teams....YOU STILL SUCK COZ!

I was backing Coz also, but no more. He doesn't have 11 guys playing hard every play. I think these 5 guys give all out effort every play are Octavian, Suh, Potter, Grixby and Dillard (when he's in there). The rest are just going through the motions. I just don't think the kids believe in Coz's schemes anymore. This read and react crap is killing us. Let the players play, defense should be fun, it doesn't look like they are having any fun out there at all. I also think that Callahan is losing faith in the defense. Many times I noticed Callahan shaking his head as Coz's defense was just getting run over. Callahan knows that Coz isn't getting it done and hopefully will show Coz the door after the season. Bill Busch might be our best recruiter, but I don't think that guy can coach his way out of a wet paper bag. How many times were our safeties out of position, taking bad angles and just not doing their job.

We can only hope

I really don't believe Coz will get fired. Cally will stand by his friend.

I remember reading a sarcastic comment earlier this week. Someone said we were all acting like NU was going to go 7-5 so we won't have to worry about OU in the B12CG. Just because we lost to USC.

Now a near miss by a team that probably won't win its own non-BCS conference? If Cally and Coz don't get the blackskirts figured out, and soon, NU will be lucky to go 7-5.

When they talked to coach Callahan as they were going into the locker room at the half, he brought up the play of the defense's need for adjustments for the second half. Then the interview after the game he said some thing along the same lines about the defense. I think hes sees the handwriting on the wall about the major problems this team defense faces as the season gos on. I don't see any changes in the coaching staff as far as Coz is concerned, but coach Callahan might have to put in some of his ideas to get this defense playing the way they were hyped up to be at the start of the season. I don't think Bowman would have made that big of a difference even if he had played, but he was missed. As in the Wake game, the defense stepped up late and won this game after putting itself behind the 8-ball again. I doubt that kind of luck is going to continue.

GBR!!!

I shudder to think what would have happened if USC hadn't let up... 100 points, anyone? :hellloooo

See I said last week that if USC wanted to score 60 on us they would have. The defense definately let that game get out of reach however all we could do was pass anyways. There are a few people on the board I need to apologize too and they know who they are that have mentioned firing Coz in the past and I jumped all over them. I'm a big enough man to admit when I was wrong and I sincerely apologize for jumping you for expressing your concerns which obviously were painfully true. I feel like I'm being backed into a corner now and I have no choice, but say that Coz has to go. I was just trying to support the team and let me tell you I still support the team as a whole because I love the Huskers, but something has to change. It's not Cally it's Coz. :hmmph

Coz will be fired. There is no way booing and leaving in the 4th quarter will be ignored. Callahan will do it himself. The only way he stays is we win all but 1 or 2 games and get beat by OU. But if we do it giving up 40 a contest then he will be gone.

Coz will be fired. Too many people will protest. Big time boosters will threaten $$ and that is all Pud cares about.
