I will say this...I think a lot of TDS'ers don't want Trump out...They need him in their lives.

Like, this season, when there is no Husker Football, there will be a lot of people that go "crazy" they need it running through their (veracourse) veins.  TDS'ers, need him.  Like how a junkie needs a fix.

I am so glad that I don't live and die with this BS...

If you're not voting for a candidate with a chance to win then your vote is harming one of the two viable candidates. That's just reality. The system sucks, as we've come to find out, when you only have two crappy candidates that are viable.

I don't really remember the GOP crying very much when Mitt or McCain lost. Honestly I think it disenfranchises progressive candidates more than conservatives, because their are more nuanced views to the left of center that still incompass ideas you find on the right. I don't know that it works the other way around quite as well.

No, it's not.  If me voting 3rd party "hurt" one of the candidates that's because they failed to earn my vote.  That's on them and their campaign, not me and nobody should ever be guilt tripped bynother people into voting for "their guy" by using the broken system excuse.  In fact the only way to get the message that the system is broken across is to vote 3rd party when the choices suck.

Even if this were true, it's only true in a handful of states. Your vote doesn't matter at all one way or the other in Nebraska (sans Omaha that one time), Illinois, California, Kansas, etc.

And Omaha was "fixed" after that one time. Gerrymandering is obviously a big part of vote suppression.

You're entitled to your opinion. In an ideal world I would tend to agree with you, but the mob doesn't want to have to do the research to decide between 2+ candidates and there simply won't be enough people voting 3rd party to send any kind of message. Neither party wants to allow another competitior at this time, so the odds of a viable 3rd party coming to power in the next handful of cycles is nill in my opinion. 

 
The pipe dream that is fixing the 2 party system still has little to do with the fact that voting 3rd isn't voting for X.

 
I've long hated the binarism injected into politics by voters and politicians alike. I firmly reject the narrative and I vote for the candidate that I believe is best suited for the position. In reference to the 2016 presidential election, I did not vote for Trump or Clinton. Some people view that as me voting for Trump at the end of the day. I disagree with the perspective even though I understand it. Most of the people I see bandying this belief are the ones most disappointed in Trump's victory, anecdotally speaking of course.

I think it's a weak argument intended to distract from more pressing issues. The fact that Trump ever ended up in a position to become president is far more concerning than voters choosing not to give into the binary quagmire that is American politics.

You're talking strictly in cause and secondary effect @ZRod.  That's political jargon 101.  If I drink a glass of water, I'm no longer thirsty.  But because it was offered to both of us and you didn't speak up, you remain parched.

If I go in and vote, the last thing I or anyone should think about is "How does me shading this circle in effect then other oval".  Shade in the oval you want because that's how it's supposed to work.

Except for the fact that I was in a swing state, and I new that if I did not vote for Hilary (as gross as it felt) I would increased the chances of Trump winning the state.

No, that's still the wrong mentality.  And there's no telling that Hillary would've been any better.  I mean sure, on the surface sh would've looked incredible by year 4 because of the media hype and a lifetime of hiding the bad s#!t.

Point is, if everyone voted against a candidate instead of for a candidate elections are going to become even more pointless than they are now.
