Therein lies the problem - they want a sure thing. Not gonna find it very many places anywhere in life nor should they. The key is whether the coaches are giving them a true, fair and honest chance to earn a spot. I think the difficulty for players and especially coaches is to be sure assurances are clearly expressed throughout recruiting and time in the program that the best player wins the job but the competition continues all along. Injuries of course happen and the competition should be open once health is no longer a factor.GBRFAN said:I think 80% of kids in the transfer portal are because they dont think they will see the field. So they are probably not going to choose a school that is a coin flip they want the sure thing.
Again - the entire team needs to know and believe that the best man wins based on reasonable and fairly objective standards. Team unity and morale are critical to team success. Not an easy line to walk for coaches and players alike but the best teams are grounded in this principle imo.
