Rumors and news of a B1G football season

Football is easy to do, with science.

Just add extra 20 seconds to the play clock to wash hands.  And wear a mask.   chuckleshuffle

The B1G is so all over the place when it comes to sources which makes me think that either people are pretending they know something or the communication is nil and so schools are guessing.
More likely there are trial balloons and even outright fake leaks just to tease the sharks and appease the masses.  An angry mob is assembling and looking for a few necks to stretch.   Special K is trying to play both sides and dance the sidestep.   He has a very sticky mess whether he made it (certainly not alone).

The Big Ten is facing massive fiscal peril, both short and medium term.   Long term there are real risks as well.  He may have been told what to do but he is the face of the conference.  He has serious explaining to do ASAP and the initial deny, delay and defend wont be easy.   He needs luck and plenty of it.

Lets all hope that somehow the Big Ten is not in coverup mode as that usually ends up worse than a simple admission and sincere apology.

A scandal may be brewing - who knows - but there are enough people involved that something will slip.
I hope for DONU’s sake, things get fixed and the season and athletics is spared a disastrous fall!   Its hard to see a plausible story that answers the questions we all know are coming.

Or it could be a third option: What incentive does Moos or anyone else have to be honest about this until it's set in stone and moving forward?

Think about how Nebraska fan is doing right now. Then imagine Moos announces we're shooting for October and another wave hits or something and we get pushed back into November if not the winter/spring.

All Moos would have for his efforts is wave after wave of increasingly bitter rage shoveled in his face when he could alternatively avoid it simply by keeping his yap shut until rumors become reality.

Yep. I still think starting this fall after the other schools (Oct/Nov) is how the B1G will have their cake and eat it too. Fall season will appease the fans/coaches/players. Being able to have that last second abort by letting the other conferences be the canary in the coal mine will appease the presidents/medical advisors.

You're 100% right though, no point spouting off about an October season when there is much that can change - zero upside - tons of downside.

Moos acknowledging they've discussed Thanksgiving now which was reported yesterday. I bet October has been discussed even if he's saying it hasn't.

We have yet to consider the damage this has done to the B1G's reputation/optics.  There are a lot of recruits out there watching the SEC, ACC, and Big 12 play this fall and us not playing will most defiantly have a negative impact on their perception of our league.  The Pac 12, to be honest does not really matter for they were essentially obsolete before this debacle.

Honestly, provided they play this fall at some point, I don't see how this has recruiting implications, etc...unless you expect the SEC, ACC and BIG 12 to pitch "we play in pandemics" to recruits...which in itself sounds funny
