Huskers Need a New Coach

I agree with the poster Callahan sucks so let's just be done with that. There will be no winning conference championships, much less anything else, with this guy running the show you can take that to the bank. Mediocre is where we are at and where will stay with this guy and that saddens me.

That being said, let's support our team. GO BIG RED.

Callahan isn't getting the job done. Lets face it, look what he did in his biggest game so far against USC. We just got embarrassed AT HOME. If u want to know wut the rest of Callahan's career at Nebraska will be like, just watch a tape of that game. Nebraska has enough talent to win out the rest of the season, but lets face it our coaches suck.

I agree we should go about firing Callahan in a smart way. Unfortunately, we've already given him a 5-year contract extension. First off, we need to fire Coz as soon as the football season is over. Coz has done an absolutely poor job of motivating our D & absolutely needs to be fired. We need to find a better head coach who would be interested in coaching at Nebraska. We let Callahan stay for 3-5 more years, then fire his a$$, hire a better coach, & put an end to the WCO.

So you were so sure Nebraska would beat ISU by more than 21 points Saturday you bet $11 and lost. So now you are PO'd that you can't meet your trailer home rental due Monday?

If you are going to call for a coaching change...offer who you believe would be a realistic replacement!
I don't really think he can give a replacement if you really read his post. He stated BC should be given the length of his contract extension which doesn't end until after the 2011 season. There's so many variables between now and then, who knows who will even be available for the 2012 season? Hell, by 2012 the power running game and option may be back in style again. 2011 is just too far out in the future to even be able to make an educated guess. By that time, Stoops may not be at OU; Mack at Texass; etc.
His first post was just bitching about the current coaching staff. No recommendations for his "Problem Solutions"

NO MORE HATIN ON CALLY..offense is doing fine :madash
When are people gonna realize that he is more than an offensive coach.....he is the HEAD COACH, not just the offensive coordinator.
OK Sunday night quarterback...who would you hire as a replacement head coach tomorrow?

I have had to fire peeps like you that have no depth and letting alcohol doing all your talking on your keyboard.

You are ADSP right now....who would you bring in this week as the replacements?

Alcohol doing the talking for me on a Sunday night? Right.......

Before this weekend I wasnt really sure who I would bring in as head coach even though I have thought all along the Cally isnt the right guy for the job.......

Then I watched USF beat WV on Friday and I was finally able to agree with everyone who said we should hire Jim Levitt....

Oh and next time, dont call me out like that, its not a good idea!

I can't believe your truly a fan of the Big Red. Hah we win big against a team who always plays up to us our defense did a fine job even scored a TD and your calling for a firing squad.

We are not going to be dominant in every game anymore. Teams who were not dominant this week include USC, OU,Texas,Wisconsin, Penn St, Cal, Oregon, Florida etc etc is fact most of these teams lost. Several lost at home.

Each team gave up more points than we did. Compare Iowa St and Cu. Compare Iowa St and K St.

I feel to get better we need to stick together not become the issue. If it does become more than you can handle I still need tickets. I mean honestly why do you need them? The games seem to be tearing you up inside. What possible enjoyment can you be getting watching this team?

I remember standing and watching the 1990 Fiesta bowl vs Flo. St.. We lost and lost big. I enjoyed just being there rooting for my team while sitting amidst of the FSU fans. They thought I was nuts and I probably am but my son and I told them all we will be back.

I don't remember anyone wanting Dr. Tom fired or his staff. I feel the "New" fans, after 1994 arespoiled. Thats when I personally saw Husker fans come out of the woodwork. I remind you I'm not from or in Nebraska but my parents were. I watched the Huskers win it all in 70 and 71 and waited and suffered 23 years for another. In that time I was able to grow up with Dr. Tom. He gained more respect by persuvering and always trying to get better while maintaing his loyalty to his players and his staff.

From my observance of Coach Callahan he runs a tight ship. There is "more than winning" on his mind. This was the Husker Way and should be still. I'll be calling for Callahan's firing when he becomes shady like some other squads i know. When winning is the only thing that matters. Ex. Miami, OU and at times CU. I'll jump on the "fire bandwagon" when Coz and his crew run the Husker athletes down in the media or give excuses why they lost without accepting any blame.

Until then I'll be patient, always watchful and always dam proud.

look, everyone is passionate about the Huskers, but in so many ways, as we look around and see the sucess and big wins lesser talented teams are producing, we gravitate back to the lack of good coaching on this team.

this isn't going to go away with the addition of better athletes.

sure cally displays good character in his kids, a lot of coaches do that, but between him and especially coz, they both have simply looked out coached too many times over the last couple years.

As did Dr. Tom at times. Especially early on against Misouri. I still think he made a mistake in 83 against Miami. Not tha he went for 2 but that he didn't go for 2 the TD before. If he had and missed he would of had to go for 2 for the tie at the end if he had made the first then the kick at the end would of been all he needed.

Hah but I forgave him.

All I ask is give this group a chance. 4 years is nothing. Callahan is a good coach IMO but he will get better over time. Who was Osbornes Defense Coordinator? Did he always have the best defense? Did he eventually?

This is the weakest argument ever. I am not saying you should want Cally to be fired BUT you can't say the offense is fine so he should stay. He is not the offensive coordinator ONLY! He is the head coach!

He is responsible for the enitre team and most importantly the W-L record.

Your argument is terribly flawed.

I also think all of you who call this beating a dead horse is funny, at the begining of the year you said let's see how this year goes, it's going terribly in terms of on the field play and we got destroyed by USC, when every other team they played hung with them for longer than us. You can't complain that people are criticizing him now that the games are played, it's what you asked for!

Then my "Ignore" list will have several fresh additions. :)

In response to the post, I think Callahan should stay. Cosgrove is another story.
Not trying to start problems, so please don't take it that way. I honestly don't know the answer to whether Callahan is the right coach for NU or not, but I'm curious.. what is it that makes you think Callahan should stay?
