Nebraska were called the Cornhuskers in 1916, so it wouldn't be a reference to the UNL football team.
Nebraska played two different opponents called the Aggies in 1916 - Oregon State and Kansas State.
Can we see more of that photo?
Its so old and brittle it damages it every time you try unroll it.
The current Oregon State University was the Oregon Agricultural College back then. Beavers since 1910. I've never heard the Aggies moniker used, but a lot of Ag schools were called "Aggies" way back when.Nebraska were called the Cornhuskers in 1916, so it wouldn't be a reference to the UNL football team.

Sounds like a club team.Interesting rabbit hole.
The Nebraska Aggies were at one time coached by Robert C. Russell, and appear to have had some connections to Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity (although that may just be a reference to Russell).
They represented the School of Agriculture from UNL's East Campus Ag School per this Daily Nebraskan article from 1933. They played teams like Doane, Harvard (NE), Nebraska Wesleyan, York, etc.
They also had a basketball team.
