I have done a few african cichlid tanks. In my current 55 gal I only have 1 cichlid left. One day I came downstairs and 1 fish was dead. During the day I couldn't figure out who the a-hole was. Eventually it got to the point where I figured out who the a-hole was and he is now in a 55 gal by himself lol You picked an awesome species though. Lots of rocks and crevices/caves and they are all over the place and very active. Will have to post a pic once you have it up and running!
