what is a draft promise? Is it like when teenage boys give their girlfriends promise rings and then you end up breaking up because she got drunk and hooked up with the kid from the town over and ruined your life and future together or is it different?

Pretty much if you are there when they pick they will take you. Usually see that for 1st rounders though.

2nd rounders in the NBA are like lotto tickets, and Banton is the ultimate lotto ticket. Wouldn't surprise me if he had enough teams interested to feel comfortable going in the 2nd round. The G-League isn't the G-League of 5 years ago. You can sign a 2 way contract, play G-League and NBA minutes and make 300-400k.

Banton has NBA size, and if he continues to develop a jump shot, he could find himself on a roster in a year or two. If not, he would thrive in the Euro leagues. Good luck to that dude!
