Let us look into this lovely youth angle.

Jurgens (4th year here) returning starter

Benhart (3rd year here) returning starter

Piper (3rd year here) returning starter

Sichterman (5th year here)

Corcoran (2nd year here)

We have 3 returning starters. The only youth excuse is that of Corcoran.
I don't disagree we have some returning experience.

It would just be a bit better if we had a returning  starter upperclassman on the OL.

So roughly two years older than our line on average...that's quite a bit.
Not if you actually look at each schools website and see the year they arrived on campus....What is the next strawman because the below shows Nebraska has more years experience in college ball than Iowa's starting 5 does.

C - Nebraska 4th year, Iowa 4th year - 0 Difference

G- Nebraska 3rd yr, 5th yr, Iowa 4th yr, 3rd yr +1 Nebraska

T- Nebraska 3rd yr, 2nd year, Iowa 2nd yr, 3rd yr- 0 Difference

Yeah, I didn't have time to look up details.

What is Iowa's line career number of starts versus out line?

.....because Sichterman skews our years with the program versus career starts.

I mean I'm with you on the progress is being made bandwagon, but even I have to admit the OL has not been a success. That's a lot of hoops to jump through to claim it's been adequate.

I do think we'll get there, but they pretty much totally whiffed on OL the first couple years. I do think Benhart is quietly quite a bit better than last year and I don't notice Sichterman a lot which is fine. But if Piper is the best they've found at Guard that's an issue, and Corcoran better get healthy and get mean. The line has had enough time and experience to be better than they are. I am still holding out for a mid season gel ala 2018, but there aren't a lot of good excuses for the lack of push and basic pass protection right now.

hey let us look at recruiting rankings for these same players

NU C- **** (7th TE)                   Iowa *** (28th DT)

NU G- *** (47th OT), *** (90th DT)    Iowa *** (79th OT),*** (32nd OG)

NU T- **** (13th OT), **** (4th OT)  Iowa *** (46th OT), *** (114th SDE)

So we both agree that Iowa runs circles around us in offensive line development. Good. Just admit that we have sucked at OL development.
Yeah Hedley, my bad...program comparatively no disagreement at all.

My optimism for the unit is that with Frost's roster turnover from the Riley years many of our current OL had the potential to be 3-4 year starters.

Iowa absolutely has a deserved reputation for OL development.

I know Frost has concerns because he has been bringing in former OL teammates from the 90s to watch practice and critique.

What you are claiming I claimed I never claimed.

Literally the only thing I said was I'm optimistic for their potential.

Never said a word touting their progress.
