An Ole Miss beat writer "recruiting analyst" (read: neckbeard fan boy who figured out how to get paid for it) apparently just made up a quote from a recruit that was never said.


Then, the "recruiting analyst" went into the DMs of the kid and asked him to delete it because it was making him look bad.

Then finally the reporter kind of admitted it, although he used the word 'implied' which is a strange and not-at-all accurate substitute for 'explicitly lied':

Lol, "implied" that he spoke directly to him? He flat out said "spoke with Devin" and "here is a quote from him." Terrible journalism, just making up a cookie cutter quote so you have one. Probably happens a fair amount to be honest, they all say very similar things. Doesn't make it ok though.
