I might sound crazy but Smothers might have these qualities. He doesn’t have a huge arm but he was efficient in short throws and played pretty well in his first ever start against a ranked Iowa team. Not saying we couldn’t upgrade but he might surprise everyone 

I agree that we all need to give Smothers a fair chance. He has started one game and performed fairly well for a newbie.

Yeah, Smothers looked pretty good and you can tell from his HS film he’s well coached. His accuracy and decision-making looked a lot better than our coach’s.

I wouldn't mind seeing a pro style QB with specific packages designed for Smothers.

I just hope we don't get stuck with a QB who can't scramble when the pocket breaks down, because he'd get killed behind this line...
