What Players Leave After The Season?

I think the transfer portal will ultimately ending up facilitating  depth concerns similar to the Waiver program in the NFL.  I never knew about Nadab Joseph but given how teams can only have so many scholarship players, if a position gets depleted teams are going to need to find an interim solution.

Looking at the scholarships, we are at 88 with Thomas & D Jackson.  Sounds like we are looking at adding 3 to 5 more players and we need to be at 88 by February signing period.  Who else will probably leave?

I thought it was something like August before we had to have the roster adjusted.

I heard on another board Cerni is likely headed for a medical hardship.

Are other schools dealing with having to adjust their scholarship rosters (not just in B1G)?  I'm just curious if it's common across the board.
All teams have the 85 scholarship limit but some conferences are a lot more flexible with over signing than the Big 10. The super seniors are an issue impacting every school though as well.

I have a hard time seeing all of our underclassmen receivers sticking around, but don't have any kind of sense around the depth chart beyond Manning/Betts/Martin/Brown. No way we keep all the current QBs if we sign 2 from the portal, but that doesn't help our numbers because it'll just be swapping the transfer in. OL/DL are probably the best bets along with WR - OL might not happen until the depth chart starts to shake out though. Right now everyone has a shot to play there.

It's ridiculous that the limit is still 85 when everyone except the true freshmen and new signees have an extra year.

The NCAA really fumbled the ball here.  It was great giving one an extra year for the year lost, but they should have also allowed schools to go over 85 (or whatever the limit based on the sport) by the same number of super seniors they have on the roster.

Exactly!  How hard would it be to just say "hey, if a kid is playing his/her 5th year, he doesn't count towards the limit."

Seems pretty simple to me.
