2021-22 College Basketball

The names in the Big East conference amazes me.  Just from the looks of it, I think it's brilliant... there is no comparison.

Providence

Villanova

Marquette

Connecticut

Xavier

Creighton

Seton Hall

St. John's

Butler

DePaul

Georgetown

However, the Atlantic 10 disagrees....

Davidson

Saint Louis

VCU (Virginia Commonwealth)

Dayton

Richmond

George Mason

St. Bonaventure

GW (George Washington)

Saint Joseph's

Rhode Island

UMass

Fordham

La Salle

Duquesne

Really want Gonzaga to go to the Big East. The WCC is actually not a bad conference by any stretch but it will just never get general cbb fan notoriety.

That would be great for mens basketball, but that's a brutal road schedule for their teams and will greatly increase their travel costs.   Not sure that move would be worth it for them financially.

True on the travel, however you could create a schedule where GU has road games in two week blocks and you schedule them geographically appropriate

Providence/St. John's one weekend and Xavier/Creighton the next

Tough loss for Creighton, losing their starting PG in their most recent game.   From all accounts, sounds like it was a bad injury.  Hate to see it.   He was having a great freshman season in the Big East, will definitely hurt them when it comes to tournament time.

They were playing their way into a tourney bid with 3 freshman and a D2 transfer playing major mins. Nembhard should still be Freshman of the Year in the Big East.

They lost all 5 starters from a Sweet 16 team, arguably had to retool more than any other program in the country and seemed to make it work well beyond expectations. Maybe McDermott's most impressive season.
